GODDAMMIT!

Post by Metrion Cascade »

I've put together a sig pic with a background that matches the SDnet "Black Soul" background, but I can't put it on my AOL webspace or email it to Dalton without the color and sharpness being ruined. Is there some format I can save it in that won't be altered by AOL when I send it?

It might be the compression settings on your computer itself that is destroying the image. Try checking those first.

Hm. Never heard of such a thing. Some setting in System Preferences? (I'm on a Mac).

No, with your photo editor (I need to go to bed like now). I don't know what editor you're using, but preferences for compression are usually in the whereabouts of File > Preferences.

Use a non-compressed format, like BMP (or even better, the native file format of your photo editor: xcf for GIMP and psd for Photoshop IIRC). If you're having trouble with file formats, somebody else with more experience in that area can always do the final output for you.

Ahh, a Mac user. Save it as an uncompressed image format. We wouldn't be able to tell you which ones without knowing what sort of graphics program you are using on that Mac. A good bet however, is either TIFF, TGA, or a Windows bitmap (BMP) That, or save your JPEGs with no compression. I know there are Mac users on this board who might know a bit more.

Im a mac user...what have you got? If you have photoshop and want to keep the clarity then go to file when you have opened the image...and save for web...then you will have the settings on the right...chose maximum and save the image as a jpeg and it should transfer just fine
