Carrack is flying around the outer rim gets caught in wormhole ends up alpha quadrant makes contact with SCS Picard wants talk Captain o Carrack has lasp o sanity attacks. Who would win given Carracks could probaly stand 700- 1400 gigatons and dish 90 at best.

Soverigns can take less than 500 Megatons of damage and crack, They do less than 600 Megatons a second in damage and a Craccken can take over a mintue of pounding from it while the Soverign can't even take two seconds from the Craccken

As to the topic, remember that the Carrack and the Sovereign appear to be of comparable volumes. With that in mind, of course the Carrack wins. It has vastly more firepower and shielding than the E-E.

Here's what I've been able to find out about the weapons of the "Carrack-class Cruiser":

10 Heavy Turbolasers Batteries
20 Laser Cannons
(Up to) 5 tractor beam projectors
2 warhead launchers
And sometimes 20 Ion Cannons instead of the 20 Laser Cannons

Also, from what I've been able to find, the Carrack's HTL Batteries are at the same power level per shot as the ISD II's HTL Cannons.

A HTL is a HTL is it not? 200 gigatons is 200 gigatons no matter if it is mounted on a ISD or a 350 meter long crusier. At ten mounts, theoreticly you get 2000 gigaton's, I know they all can't fire at the same target at once because of firing arcs. There is not much SF can do against that, massing a huge fleet for one ship is not a good way to fight a war.

Carracks are nothing to sniff at. For somereason the EU uses them as Escort Destroyers, even though the armerment for the thing puts it into the light cruiser range. It can throw out more enery then a Dreadnaught! Add to the fact that it is said to be fast for a capital ship (and capital ships pull thousands of g accel) and the fact it was designed in a compartmental design so that it can get the crap kicked out of it and keep coming back, and you have to wonder why we don't see this designed used more actively. I mean, I know there is the armor flaw, but a refit could fix that (unless the space frame would not support it).

A more fair fight would be a Lancer vs a Sovie, or a Battle Horn Cruiser vs a Sovie.

LOL, I just realized that in terms of the Carrack, Dreadnought, and Strike Cruiser being all thought up by WEG, the weapon stats are completely without contradiction, for once!

Would like to know where these HTLs are though, I don't see any Imperator-type barrels anywhere ...

Can someone clarify something for me?

The WEG stats for the Imperator/Imperator II and Executor-class are totally off. I don't see fifty HTL 'batteries' on an ISD, I only see eight turrets, and these aren't even mentioned. So do we try and and rationalize this, or just accept that as usual WEG has done no research and an ISD2 has the 64 heavy turbolaser barrels, not 50 turbolaser 'batteries'.

the Carrack fits the role of a light cruiser
against a Star Destroyer it its toast but for patroling or planetary system defence of repression only the Rebel Alliance could even touch the thing. It has Turbolasers for heavy fire work but it also has mainly antifighter weapons.
