Geuss what i did...
Today i biked about 7 miles. And yes i know aerius or someone else will be here in about 3 seconds "ha i biked like 30 gajillion miles, ha!!!" but this is something special for me because i'm usually to lazy to bike any real distance + there were alot of hills on my route.

Yesterday, I ran 8 miles. Through a neighborhood called Bay Hills. I laugh at ju!!!
But seriously, good job. You have to start somewhere, and if you keep it up you'll get in great shape.

Last fall I biked 142.2km with my GF, all the way from Toroto to Niagara Falls. Then again I've been biking since before you were born, yes that's right.
But seriously, 7 miles ain't bad for a start, just keep biking and having fun, that's the key part, have fun. Too many people forget about the fun part unfortunately. Ride, ride, ride and have lots of fun, that's the best advice I can give.

Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either.

Bah. About 17 miles farther than my farthest, but I was going hard.

Depressing is when I think about what my boss does every summer. Every year he bikes up to his cottage with a couple of his friends...that's a 300km ride that takes them 9-10 hours. And then there's the co-worker who's one of the top 20 cyclists in Canada. On the bright side it means I always have someone better than me to train with.

If I was out for a nice ride, I could go for a long time. And he probably has a really nice bike that requires no power to pedal. I've ridden one; my coach is a triathlete sponsored by Bike Doctor. You realize how bad your bike is then

Those 2 guys I mentioned own titanium bikes with the best components money can buy. Damn things are light as a feather. While the bike does make a difference in the end there's only so much it can do for you, you still gotta train your ass off to ride at the level they do. But training ain't fun (for me) so I don't do it much which is why my fitness level ain't the best. It's decent but there's a fair bit of room for improvement. Hell, my GF is in way better shape than I am, but then again she was a top level Canadian nationals swimmer. But I ride to have fun not to race, so as long as I'm fit enough that I don't pass out at the top of each climb I'm happy.StormTrooperTR889 wrote:If I was out for a nice ride, I could go for a long time. Well aerius, I get "in shape" pounded into me for 3/4's of the year in track. They want me to pass out training. And there have been people that have done it too.

Yup, I remember my highschool cross-country days, get up every morning at 6am to go run for an hour & do hill workouts. Thankfully the season only lasts 3 months. 7.5km races with hills everywhere ain't much fun to run either. I'm pretty much done with running, the only time I'll run these days when some cute chicks asks me to and I get to see her boobs bounce.StormTrooperTR889 wrote:Well aerius, I get "in shape" pounded into me for 3/4's of the year in track. 7miles (11.2 km's?) isn't too bad, back when I cycled a lot, I would get about 8km's at best.

My bike is currently sitting in the garage in about 15 pieces, waiting to be repainted and has been for the past six months.
Thus I win.

After all, this is completely straightforward. What could possibly go wrong?

My bike currently exists in a state of uselessness.

It's hard to ride when one of your pedals have broken off.
I need a new one anyway.

I ran 7 miles today through 4-6" of unpacked powder, in the hills. Damn but that was tough.

I haven't run since 5th grade. And damn the infamous Mile-Run whipped my ass. Currently, I spend my days eating Oreos, watching TV, and sleeping 12+ hours a day. I imagine that when I get older and my metabolism slows to molasses I will likely become the most obese man in the Great 48. Weep for me, or buy me a new bike (PM me for details

aerius, you're not making me like you anymore. There are no hot chicks for me to watch anymore. Either they graduated or just stopped running

In the saturday of last weekend, I biked 212 Km on road, from Lisbon to the mediterrean. 6.45 hours on a saddle, average speed 32 Km/h.
This week (and this weekend) I turned again to my precious pure mountain biking and did 150 Km overall. I also found a new downhill track, called "The widow downhill" and did it time after time until I managed to do the entire downhill without releasing a foot from the pedal.
I'm worried, though. I'm getting too bold and too adrenalin addicted. I even started having dreams of me riding and get restless when I'm at home. This months long forced vacation had the potential to seriously injure me. Oh well, they're almost over now, I've already bought the airplane tickets

Does the back tire rub the frame? And won't stay pumped up? My bike is such shit; good thing I won't have to ride this summer. The Aliens wrote:I'm surprised no-one has done this yet but: ha i biked like 30 gajillion miles, ha!!!
In all seriousness, I bike 20k every day in the summer, and have been doing so recently since there's no snow. My bike a is a malodourus piece of donkey shite, as well.

Mountain Biking is the present and the future. I rode 212 Km on road in one day last weekend. It's tough, but it is DEAD BORING.StormTrooperTR889 wrote:Bah, mountain bike. Get a racing bike with a carbon-fiber frame, and you'll see what it's really about.Colonel Olrik wrote:my preciousss
Anyway, I have a carbon fiber bike. Not this one, though. This one is made of Scandium 2.
