Damn Kazaa!!
I have tried to wipe the adwares on my computer that ARE SERIOUSLY SLAGGING MY PROCESSOR SPEED... but each time I do so, each adware found is associated with Kazaa..
damn, this is pissing me off.

It works like a charm on my system. I have no such problems with my computer. I highly recommend it. It's useful for removing useless and spying internet cookies, media player history, spyware, adware, etc.
Let me know if you use it and how well it does on your system. Given your problems, it may find a significant amount of crap to destroy. You'll enjoy hitting that fix button.

you also may need to go through your registry files manually and find anything connected to Kazaa. after that i'd highly recommend completely removing anything that was installed when you got Kazaa and uninstalling a new p2p program. like K Lite or DC++.

Spybot also searches through the registry. It's found a couple of obsolete programs for me several times.Darth_Zod wrote:you also may need to go through your registry files manually and find anything connected to Kazaa. after that i'd highly recommend completely removing anything that was installed when you got Kazaa and uninstalling a new p2p program. like K Lite or DC++.

How do I do that? Sorry, ever since Win95 I lost all touch with whatever computer-speak I spoke.Darth_Zod wrote:you also may need to go through your registry files manually and find anything connected to Kazaa. after that i'd highly recommend completely removing anything that was installed when you got Kazaa and uninstalling a new p2p program. like K Lite or DC++.

You realize that the folks that run Kazaa are suing anyone that hosts K-lite and anyone that links to it....right? Just by posting that, both Mike and you could end up in court with big ass fines.Luzifer's right hand wrote:Check out *URL REMOVED* for older builds of kazza-lite(I prefer them)

I removed the link, I did not even know that. though I was surprised that I could not find kazza-lite on www.download.com.
I removed the link because I don't want the owner of this forum to get problems with Sharman Networks Ltd. (I don't care myself because you can not sue someone for "big ass fines" where I live.)

Why are they doing that, I would think they'd be happy that people are recommending their software.Vertigo1 wrote:You realize that the folks that run Kazaa are suing anyone that hosts K-lite and anyone that links to it....right? Didn't Sherman Networks say it was because KazaaLite infringed on copyright laws or something like that? Go figure.Gandalf wrote:Why are they doing that, I would think they'd be happy that people are recommending their software.Vertigo1 wrote:You realize that the folks that run Kazaa are suing anyone that hosts K-lite and anyone that links to it....right? Thats it exactly. Kazaa Lite is the same software, but doesn't have the advertisements....which is how Sherman Networks gets their money.Ignorant_Boy wrote:Didn't Sherman Networks say it was because KazaaLite infringed on copyright laws or something like that? Go figure.

The only reason that shit is not considered a fucking virus is because someone is making money off of it, that ups it from virus to marketing strategy.

Yes, there is the fact that most users are completely unaware of the crap that brings their computer to a crawl or reports thier doings home to momma, these are characteristics shared between viruses, spyware/adware and microsoft products.SPOOFE wrote:... And because it requires people to voluntarily install it on their system. You ever read through the Kazaa terms of service? The only reason that shit is not considered a fucking virus is because someone is making money off of it
There is also the matter of the legal standing of some terms of service statments....which in some respects are next to nothing.
There is the fact, most viruses also get in by the user running something voluntarily, usually believing it to be something else.

k-lite isn't operated by the same people that run kazaa. it's a hacked version that's ran by a third party with no direct connection. they're upset about k-lite being ran mainly because they don't make any profit off of it.Gandalf wrote:Why are they doing that, I would think they'd be happy that people are recommending their software.Vertigo1 wrote:You realize that the folks that run Kazaa are suing anyone that hosts K-lite and anyone that links to it....right? If you're referring to Cydoor, thats easily taken care of by aquiring a dummy DLL to replace it with. (deleting it will cause Kazaa to not function properly)Keevan_Colton wrote:You mean the adware and spyware....

Like WASTE. Lets just say that for the RIAA (or your ISP) to see what you're doing, they would have to actually crack the encryption...which is VERY illegal in the US as well as many countries IIRC. (which they'll have to be very good at it since the encryption is generated by moving your mouse. )Wicked Pilot wrote:Just ditch Kazaa and get something else.
