I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Watched the coverage on NASA tv live -- hard not be excited watching such a dedicated and enthusiastic bunch of men and women :D

Telemetry indicates rover has landed base petal down, so now have to wait for airbags to deflate and the petals to unfold, deploy camera mast, solar array, etc etc :) So far, great job JPL!

Yeah, I tuned to Nasa TV some 2 minutes before they exploded in cheers. What a sight. Congratulations JPL, job well done! Now to unravel the little flower.

News conference in 5 minutes on Nasa TV.

Now NASA just has to send the signal so the rover can release that secret vial containing the common cold, and we're one step closer to interplanetary domination. :)

My god, there they are....beautiful...

Live on NASA TV, streaming in very fast, lots of images, 180 panoramas, close angle, wide angle, even an image while Spirit was still in re-entry!

I am at a loss of words. I have never seen such crystal-clear images. My god...

I ... speechless...

Stay tuned here for minute-by-minute updates

There's so much chatter in the control room now, lots of images, a polar mosaic, a 360 degree mosaic, many more. This is cool. :D

Well, a Martian day is 24 hours and 37 minutes, so saying "day" is close enough. :)

(When you read Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars Trilogy so many times, you tend to memorize some useless facts like this) :D

However, when they're sending probes to Pluto I'm sure all of them will be sabotaged by the Mi-Go.

We should build a rope ladder between mars and earth so we can go to mars in space suits.

Well, there are plans to go back to the moon to establish a permanent base, aren't there? The States are trying to pre-empt China making it there, so if they do that it would be another step closer to Mars, paving the way for regular missions.

Very good news. I only hope Beagle II is able to be found if it's still alive this week too and also hope the NASA probes will find more evidence of life to annoy Creationists with.

That is, if we can get any sort of materials processing going there, especially if that latest news about water ice not existing turns out to be false. If there still is water ice, then we can finally start producing rocket fuel on the Moon where we won't have to waste so much of it.

With only 2/3s efficiency I am starting to doubt whether or not it's worth the strain on the budget. I'm willing to bet there's going to be a total recall of some higher up politians. [yes I am a bastard]

Will our next step be to send inspectors on Mars to search for Martian WMDs? You never know how many little green men could be up there ready to mutilate our cows and anal probe our drunk rednecks by the thousands.

Is there any way to claim Mars in the name of the United States and then charge other countries to land their stuff there?

No, the green men have sabotaged 2 out of three mars craft, or, bluntly, NASA is so screwed up only 1/3 probes makes it alive.
