Your response to the terrorist attack is total bullshit. You just declared a policy of arming your citizens a few RL hours ago, and that corresponds to a few game days. There is no way that you have even begun to issue them small arms in any numbers. There is definitely no way that you have given them any training whatsoever.
Can we get a beating with the mod-stick, please?

Thnink about it this way. They suffered through an occupation. They as a nation had been at war for 200 years, and that just ended recently. Laws were only put into effect for MANDATORY arming. They had a full, organized resistance but months before. And you dont think they would be armed? I am not saying that ALL of them were. But a good portion of them have weapons in their homes.

Yeah. And I guess they're well armed and experienced enough to take care of a large force of professional terrorists who just got done overrunning a police station. Yeah.Alyrium Denryle wrote:Thnink about it this way. They suffered through an occupation. They as a nation had been at war for 200 years, and that just ended recently. I think the fleets of foreign battleships played a SLIGHTLY larger part in the freeing of your people than resistance fighters...OOC: Do you read a nations history at all? 200 years of war... ended recently. Full fledged resistance that played a key role in kicking out the Azegart... Most citizens are trained with weapons anyway, that just made it mandatory

Hmm... seems I missed a post.SirNitram wrote:So we should throw all logic to the wind and assume these cores were never, ever tested before being put on the tender. As for the super-duper-impossible-to-sneak-by-redundancy, I am afraid I will now be an asshole. From the bit which started all this..
So. Where's this uber-redundancy in your OOB? Where's it in your prior posts?Beowulf wrote:Since when did you have this capability? I see nothing in the OOB indicating you can do this. To put it this way, my nation is paranoid enough to have complete control over the output of the power cores. If you had just thought of messaging me, before you did this, then I would have told you this. As to why this isn't in my OOB, it never needed to be, considering that ships don't normally have their power cores/reactors ripped out to power something else. It wouldn't exactly be common knowledge either, considering that there's a good reason for it to be a secret. Please note:The problem I had wasn't that he could keep his guys for dying, it was that he failed to declare a basic capability. The ability to have instantenous point to point communication is a very significant ability, effecting all gameplay. This is opposed to me having fairly direct control over power, which would only affect me, assuming that you don't manage to successful steal one of my ships, and try to use it, or you manage to get a saboteur into CENTCOM(very difficult)

Or you could have declared this capability, instead of asspulling it so hypocritically.Beowulf wrote:Hmm... seems I missed a post.SirNitram wrote:So we should throw all logic to the wind and assume these cores were never, ever tested before being put on the tender. Wow, pirates steal stuff. Is this somehow shocking to you?As to why this isn't in my OOB, it never needed to be, considering that ships don't normally have their power cores/reactors ripped out to power something else.
Secret force declarations are allowed, you know.It wouldn't exactly be common knowledge either, considering that there's a good reason for it to be a secret.
In other words, your excuse for being an utter and complete hypocrit is you didn't see the possibility of a pirate group capturing one of your ships. Considering you posted signifigantly after I did(And made no bones about the fact that yes, I'm gonna be a bunch of spacefaring theives), I suppose one can only chalk this up to arrogance. Please note:The problem I had wasn't that he could keep his guys for dying, it was that he failed to declare a basic capability. The Star Kingdom's monarch (or CNO if there isn't one) has virtually unlimited power, with the Senate in advisory role only.Beowulf wrote:You're not a dictatorship.phongn wrote:So is mine, yet we don't go through such utter extremes.Beowulf wrote:And Nitram? For the MEF, here's an early outline. Thirdfain, sorry, but the Eris is not quite what I'm looking for, though it appears to be a fine design.
1 QI Jupiter-mod carrier, as fleet flag, air support and extra space
3 NNN Boso Peninsula in heavy lander dockship configuration (LSD)
4 NNN Suruga Bay in logistics configuration
2 CSD Hydra in landing ship configuration (LST)
5 CSD Hydra in assault carrier configuration (LHA)
Escorts consists of
2 Planetary Assault Monitors
10 Destroyer Leaders
140 Destroyers
I was under the impression that the SKS gave a fuck about what it's citizens thought though. There was a very good reason why I chose the acronym for my nation. It was supposed to be a significant hint towards how I would be playing it.phongn wrote:The Star Kingdom's monarch (or CNO if there isn't one) has virtually unlimited power, with the Senate in advisory role only.Beowulf wrote:You're not a dictatorship.phongn wrote: So is mine, yet we don't go through such utter extremes.

The Star Kingdom does what it feels is in the best interest of her citizenry. I should mention that the CorpSec fleet is spread out, but a significant portion of their striking power (50 capships, a number of escorts) is at Umbar. The other 650-odd ships are spread across the Alliance.

When a fleet is evacuating hours before your ships will get there, there's a good chance they'll be well and truly gone by the time you finally arrive. Hence the decoys that meant there were almost no casualties by the invaders.

Force Declaration: General Ambassador Admiral Phong Nguyen (ret.)
Age: 4519 Terran Standard Years
Species: H. youma renegade (originally H. sapiens sapiens)
Citizenship: Star Kingdom of Serenity
Eyes: Dark brown. Vision extends from the IR to UV spectrum, vastly superior night-vision over humans, visual acuity is also much superior
Hair: Black, though mostly gray by now
Strength: More than yours, silly human
Memory: Perfect (a'la Winter from SW)
Mind Strength: Impossible to telepathically communicate/datadump
Intelligence: High. Also quite educated, holds numerous doctoral-level degrees.
Armament:
One Katana (blessed and enchanted by Serenity I) sitting in Malletspace. Only smites evil.
One Mallet (blessed and enchanted by Titanite I) sitting in Malletspace. Only smites the evil and/or stupid. Doubly-effective against the stupid.
Normally he'd carry an etheric pistol, but since he was on a diplomatic mission that would not have been good. He can't leave the other two weapons behind.
Currently onboard Andrews's commandship as the pirate leader's "guest."

Okay, a few things:SirNitram wrote:When a fleet is evacuating hours before your ships will get there, there's a good chance they'll be well and truly gone by the time you finally arrive. Hence the decoys that meant there were almost no casualties by the invaders.
1) I captured a handful of mid-range officers from the Black Alliance, and managed to get a partial data sample from one. (You did say that a portion of your people never made it off the ground). As it is, my fleet knows that you ran somewhere above the galactic plane and something is being planned with xenomorphs against the Patriarchy. They'll be on the lookout, for what it's worth
2) I saw through the Hathor deception because of the aggressive close-range style of Kzin fleet engagements. Hope that isn't a problem.
3) Character declaration, for future reference.
Type: Triad soldier
Abilities: Jedi-like battle coordination, superhuman speed and strength, resistance to most technological weapons, excellent stealth.
Weapons: Typically Asian-style melee weapons (principally katanas, ninja-to, kusari-gama, various ninja gear)
Type: Triad Adept
Abilities: Same as soldier, but also expanded magical, telepathic, and physical senses, ability to cast magical spells, etc. Top adepts can rival middle-range Senshi, while the highest level can do still better.
Weapons: Same as soldier, but they often go unarmed as well.
If it becomes necessary to use the Triad Head in a combat role (which I eventually plan to do) I'll make a declaration on the spot.

A direct scan of her engine signature from point-blank, matched with intelligence assessements of the actual Hathor. In most sci-fi, each ship has a specific engine signature that is very difficult to change (this is in some ways a replication of the way that wet navy ships have unique sounds to their screws, such that they can be identified by that method). By closing to extreme close range, they were able to get a very good scan and compare it with their logs.Thirdfain wrote:I should point out that the vessel you wasted WAS a Commonwealth DN, and that with chameleon paint being common on all Commonwealth vessels, it would be easy to set her to look just like the Hathor.
I don't see how being closer to her would have allowed you to penetrate the deception.

If you're really anxious for a go, you should just take a poke at the Kzin when they're less occupied. The only reason they distributed the all-clear so quickly is because they're already at war. If there was no Black Alliance issue going on, then the Patriarch would have just said se la vie and unleashed his cats of war.Thirdfain wrote:-shrug-
I won't argue it. I was kind of looking forwards to a little action, though. Sigh.

Seeing through the deception was annoying(I have to draw you apart enough to have a chance at a concentrated thrust, after all), but I admit it's not something I thought to do beforehand, so I'm hardly gonna argue it.
