He's also under investigation by the Queensland Department of Families. Saw it in the paper.Rob Wilson wrote:He's under inquiry by Australian authorities regarding the incident. The possible charge? This guy is the epitome of dumb luck. Have you seen his show? He irritates the fuck out of these animals, crawls right next to them with his face an inch from theirs, pulls on tails, etc. When Rosie's beagle gives me a warning growl, I back off!evilcat4000 wrote:Steve Irwin has been working with animals all his life. He deserves to be charged for what he did. That said it was a bad decision to involve his child in this incident. The risks were great even though Steve has experience and skill. Steve derserves to be critisised for what he did.
You should see him drive....Lord Poe wrote:This guy is the epitome of dumb luck. Have you seen his show? He irritates the fuck out of these animals, crawls right next to them with his face an inch from theirs, pulls on tails, etc. When Rosie's beagle gives me a warning growl, I back off!
Uhm, unless you saw something I didn't see. He DID NOT dangle his kid in front of a croc. Infact he was turned sideways towards the croc, with the kid away from the croc on his arm. He was carefully approaching the croc in that manner. He didn't get closer than 5-6 feet or so.Gandalf wrote: Dangled a kid in front of a croc on world TV, and is now upset at getting criticism. Not luck. Skill. He's been handling animals all his life, and knows very well how far he can go. Most of the time at least.Lord Poe wrote:

You must not have seen him take his baby and "walk" him at the edge of the croc pool then.h0rus wrote:Uhm, unless you saw something I didn't see. He DID NOT dangle his kid in front of a croc. And what the hell is up with Australia and famous crocdile whackos from the bush? We'll make a deal with you, keep those nutty bastards off of our TV's and we'll see what we can do about Justin Timberlake.
That wasn't the point of what I was saying. My point was that he seemed shocked by the fact that others criticised him for this.h0rus wrote:Uhm, unless you saw something I didn't see. Why?Axis Kast wrote:Oh, and, in conclusion, the crocodile should be immediately shot.
Thing is, most of that is an act. If you've ever watched "Croc Diaries", you'll see how he really acts when he's not doing "Crocodile Hunter". He actually can be really damn serious when it comes to running the zoo.Morrigan wrote:OK, I give in. Maybe it is possible that Steve Irwin is as stupid as he looks. I'll take your word for it. I have no intention of ever watching Croc Diaries or any other Irwin escapade as, act or no, Steve Irwin annoys the shit out of me. However I do accord him some grudging admiration for cracking the US market where so may other Australians have failed.Vertigo1 wrote:Thing is, most of that is an act. Yeah, he cracked his way into our public conciousness. He did it by perpetuating the stereotype that Aussies are a bunch of bushwhacking hicks in crocodile skin boots (a la Paul Hogan). Are you sure you want that?Morrigan wrote: Steve Irwin annoys the shit out of me.
