This is getting way off topic, but I actually know a little bit about this since I was working for Maximum PC at the time and we recieved an OEM copy from Microsoft to use in review situations. Although the first OEM copies to big licensees such as Dell (which was the ones that got leaked) weren't tied to any specific product key, the ones that they sent out to smaller organizations and the high level MSDN subscribers were tied to specific keys so they could track them if they ever got leaked. Too little, too late I'm afraid.Slartibartfast wrote: Actually, I think there's only one "physical" version of the Pro package, and whether it will check your hardware and crap depends on whether you use a corporate key or a small-business key. Since corporations buy in bulk, they can't expect them to have to call M$ for every single copy in a 1000-license deal and such. What they did with the Service Pack was blacklist the most popular pirate key (and I think it didn't check it with HQ or whatever) but all that was needed was distribute a new, unblacklisted key
Which is more dangerous to the Borg?

The main difference between XP and a virus is that usually you don't willingly pay for viruses, and virus developers are usually alot nicer to their competitors.
But yes, windows xp, especially a pirate version (woe betide the interstallar empire that goes against microsoft's lawyers!) would put down cubes every few hours, requiring a single bored drone to spend hours reinstalling all the drivers, or getting stuck on one part of the installation process over and over again due to a scratch on the cd.

The Volume License Key edition of Windows XP is not the same as the retail version of Windows XP. There are a few files different on the CD.Slartibartfast wrote:Actually, I think there's only one "physical" version of the Pro package, and whether it will check your hardware and crap depends on whether you use a corporate key or a small-business key. The key in question that was blacklisted started with "FCKGW," though IIRC there was another key that may have been blacklisted.

Borg optical implants filter out that...thank god. They just close their other eye.phongn wrote:What about Janeway pr0n?Robert Walper wrote:It should be noted that techically, the Borg are infallible, hence why I voted for that option in the poll. Hmm, since they absorb a culture's uniqueness and add it to their own, couldn't some culture's cause damage to the collective as a whole. Ala Hugh?
I mean they absorb some romulons and then can't tie shoe laces because the whole collective expects everyone to back stab them, absorb some klingons and say fuck it let's just charged fixed emplacements, absorb some orions and become obsessed with sex....

The scariest folk song lyrics are "My Boy Grew up to be just like me" from cats in the cradle by Harry Chapin
I wonder if you can assimilate the Office Assistant?
Borg vs Paperclip: Well they couldn't assimilate Data and I have to admit I rather meet Data on a dark alley...
Borg vs Spot: I think the Red Spot would go the way of Species 8472. Call in the Ridiculously Well Converted Fed ship!
Borg vs Albert Einstein: He would make an excellent drone.
Borg vs Pooch: He would make a fast running clone
Borg vs Cat: Can't be done. Cats are superior to the Borg.
Borg vs Mother Nature: Now we are just getting silly.
