More Info from Lucas Q&A

Post by Lord Poe »

TheForce.Net had another report from that Lucas Q&A that had something very interesting which wasn't included in the other report:
He does not read any of the Expanded Universe and now finds he has to refer to a star wars encyclopedia before inventing a new character to see if it already exists.

This is what i found the most promising: he is completely open to seeing Star Wars persist on television... he loves the clone wars miniseries and is open to letting Star Wars be continued further on TV.

Again, we see that the EU is completely included by Lucas in the overall SW universe. Gee, haven't we maintained that for quite a few years now?

Yeah, Marc did mention that in his report, despite the fact that he still asked such a stupid and worthlessly phrased question...

As a counterpoint to this we see in AOTC featurettes on the DVD his staff asking him several questions about chaarcters and settings and he sits still for a moment, thinks and gives an answer without consulting any books or encylopedias.

For instance when asked what color Yoda's blood is when they're working on the CG Yoda Lucas thinks for a moment and says "Blue." He didn't stop to consult the essential guides or anything like that so there is a level of independence where he is willing to strike out on his own.

But I do believe that the staement Lucas made is dead on for what people have been arguing for years now and am curious as to why it was left out of teh earlier statement.
