Enterprise kills off 'major' character
No idea if I'm watching a rerun, but the black dude on Enterprise was just offed. Ten dollars says he's back and running in less than two seasons.

He died?!?! Great. Now maybe they can focus more on trying to develop the characters that are left consistently (and, surprisingly, I'm not talking about bust-sizes).Cyril wrote:No idea if I'm watching a rerun, but the black dude on Enterprise was just offed. Bet he's back at the end of the show.

Incidentally, did anyone else notice how little Travis was shown during the last few episodes of the first season? They even took to shooting the bridge from right over his shoulder so that he didn't even appear. Wouldn't it have made his "dramatic" death scene better if they had spent more time developing him and making viewers bond more with him before giving him the "axe?"

Well, Dax "died," but I can't say I cared. I kind of liked Tasha Yar, but Worf was much cooler. Sisko died, no loss there. Gul Dukat died, again, no loss for the whole. It must have been Kirk. Despite his outrageously insulting, crappy, worthless death-sequence, I did care about that crazy bastard. His was the last one that I even remotely cared about.tharkûn wrote:Who was the last character to die in Star Trek we gave a flying frik about?

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Did Spock ever finally die? I think he was in TNG, but I don't remember him dying after his apparent death in WoK.Cyril wrote:Spock and Kirk.Who was the last character to die in Star Trek we gave a flying frik about?
Incidentally, Kes (VOY) died. If I had been bothered to see the episode, I might have cheered. Does that count as giving a flying frik?

No cheering at their deaths does not count ... I really hated that Janeway ended up NOT dying in reality (the episode where Kes is jumping backwards through time).
I would have cared about Dukat had they killed him before the whole Pah-Wraiths mumbojumbo, I actually enjoyed him sparring with the DS9 crew earlier in the run.
Tasha Yar's death, the second time around (I think) with the E-C did actually make a connection.

Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes.
The main characters on Enterprise never die, and if they do, some corny cop out brings them back to life. If they do kill off a major character, it's probably the end of the series.
Unless of course one of the actors wises up to avoid the Trekkie Actor Curse. Get out before Star Trek sucks your career potential out from under you.

I did not even care when Kirk died. He died a stupid death and they should have done it better, but they should have done alot of things better.

Tasha's death connected in that instance because her chaarcter was more developed in that single episode than in the WHOLE SEASON she was on. A testamaent to how well written that episode was.tharkûn wrote:No cheering at their deaths does not count ... She did die twice, didn't she? I was thinking of the Enterprise-C death. Her death to the oily monster was so stupid as to make me laugh. Cheering doesn't count, but does laughing?tharkûn wrote: Tasha Yar's death, the second time around (I think) with the E-C did actually make a connection.

Yes, Yesterday's Enterprise was probably my favorite TNG episode EVER. I even think it was better than BoBW, although the one where Picard gets "killed" and Q goes out to chat with him is up there with it.Stravo wrote: Tasha's death connected in that instance because her chaarcter was more developed in that single episode than in the WHOLE SEASON she was on. Yesterday's Enterprise was exceptionally well written. I lacked so many of the trekkie plot mainstays (like an enemy defeated through technobabble and/or long moralizing diatribes).
I dunno about my favorite, but it was one of the top 10 for sure.
And no Master of Ossus laughter does not count. Any moron can make a death scene funny, hell I've laughed when people get killed for their own damn stupidity.

And yes, that does count.
I've got to go with Kirk. He was the first, the best, the original. He should have been on the bridge of the E-D as it battled a pack of Klingons, dying to save an entire world.
