How do you kill love?

Post by FaxModem1 »

How do you stop the feelings you have for a person? Is there a way? hypnosis? a medicine? a class? How do you make the emotion stop but have everything else be normal?

As far as I know, you don't... though if you get fucked over enough like I did once with a ceartain violinist, you start to FEAR them, and after a whyle, just like yoda sais, that fear turns to hate... well at least contempt...

however if you don't get fucked over and remain friends, yet still rejected into a friends only relationship where there are no taboos, and sex and all lifes issues are free to talk about... even the more personal side of sex... well I don't know. Maybe I'll know in about 10 years, since I have one of those right now.

You could try thinking yourself "above" love.

Here's a thought:

Love is transient, fickle, and always never permanent. There is always a way for love between two persons to suddenly break or become nonexistent.

Think of it as, love does not last. Something like that.

Set your goals above searching for a girlfriend, and focus on your career, livelihood, life in general. No one has said that you HAVE to get married or else you're a total loser and that will be what's written on your tombstone. So don't get hung up over a girl or love. Focus on building your life into something that will last.

My confusing two cents.

The only reliable way I've found is to find someone else. If there's a better way, I'd really appreciate it if someone would let me in on it.

Try scaling it down to a smaller level: ask yourself how you would stop loving a beloved but deceased pet. You will never forget that pet, nor will you ever stop feeling the sense of affection and loss. But time heals such wounds to a certain extent, and life goes on. While you will not actually lose your feelings of affection and loss, you will climb out of the depression. It just takes longer.

only way to overcome feelings of love for someone is time really. though even then there's not much you can realyl do about it to get the feelign completely gone. something might sneak back into you and bring back the emotion.

only real way you can get over it is to try and not think about it and turn your attention to something else til you're over it.

First figure out if it IS LOVE and not infactuation or lust. An objective look at your relationship will usualy reveal if you are in love or just really want to be in love but aren't.

It's cliched, I know, but the only way to really stop loving someone is to give it lots of time.

I say just give it time. Or, as I did, I just find other pursuits. If you study it, you can find points where I have a sharp increase in posts.

"He was a cowboy, mister, and he loved the land. He loved it so much he made a woman out of dirt and married her. But when he kissed her, she disintegrated. Later, at the funeral, when the preacher said, "Dust to dust," some people laughed, and the cowboy shot them. At his hanging, he told the others, "I'll be waiting for you in heaven--with a gun." #4,088

I agree. Taking a detached view of my attraction to my friend helped me get over her. Figuring out the nature of your feelings is a good first step to controlling it. It took me a long time but it worked for me.

People handle their feelings differently. I mean, someone 'in love' could just be in deep infatuation or could be ready to flip out and carve names in their forehead with a knife.

There's an old wives' tale - if you cut your finger, have someone step on your toe. What that basically means is that substituting one feeling for another makes the first one go away if you're too busy concentrating on the other one.

So if you're really young (and by that, I mean "less than 25 years old"), then just go watch some porn or play sports or get a really tough hobby. Something with people, perferably. Go out and blow off some of that nervous energy that makes you sit in your home, sulkily pining with all your heart. Just do something - anything - that you enjoy doing. Keep yourself busy and social, and life will go on normally.
Note: I'm semi-retired from the board, so if you need something, please be patient.

Yeah, that is an interesting point. I got my heart ripped out at the beginning of December or so, but it didn't bother me in the slightest till a few weeks later when my finals were over.

Even if a lost love is out of your life, they may still haunt your heart for a while, maybe for a year or even two if you're unlucky.

The best way to try to end your romantic feeling for a person is to open yourself up to someone else who you think is special and that takes time too.

OK, all you can do right about now is the equivalent to standing on the bow of a vessel, saluting as it sinks under the waves...

There are many ways to kill love.

If you not into bloodshed then try this, take everything that you still have of the person or persons that you where in love with take it to a secret place outdoors that you know of put in one big pile and light the stuff on fire, make sure to fallow standered fire safety then as the stuff is burning scream rant and rave untill you can no longer contune then harden you heart towards the feelings of love and or compassion.
But beware doing so can and will over time kill your soul.

Hope that helps.

honesty is the best policy i must say from my own recent experience. if you havent you should open up to her nd let her know how you feel. it may sound tough but trust me, if she sys o it will be easier to let go and if she says yes ..... well your in. if you dont know how she feels, trying top get over it will never work cause you can alwys convince yourself that she may have feelings for you, or continuously misread signs if she is soeone you tal to alot. therefore i insist tat you tell her.

as i said i have recently been through this and although i still care about her heaps we are just really really good freinds now because she didnt reciprocate. it helps to get over the 'love' but it does take time, and lots of it. but in the end it is worth it cause you are not costantly thinig about it and worrying over it
