There are mods for SFC that let you do that.

I recommend you get RebEd. Then you can modify the game to your liking. It increases replayability value.

I loved rebellion, but I will admit, the tactical aspect of it did suck. The graphics were mostly terrible, too, though I friggen loved the one they showed you when the Alliance takes Coruscant.

"Large numbers of rebel troops are landing!"
A bulk carrier lands and rebel infantry gets out. They and various stormies start shooting at each other.
"Rebels are storming the palace gates!"
The sky is shown to be FULL of Alliance warships. One flies low and shoots at the Imperial cog in the palace. It crumbles to pieces and falls.
"REBEL TROOPS HAVE TAKEN THE PALACE! REBEL TROOPS HAVE TAKEN THE PALACE!"

Ah, memories. Anyway, to improve it, I'd add more factions, totally revamp the tactical engine, and make it possible to create your own ship designs in addition to those already there. Certain restrictions would have to be in place for this, of course, not only upper limits for how powerful a ship could be, but also for current level of tech.

Multiplayer mode was what made this game really great, though. I still remember the aplocalptic showdown between a friend of mine and myself as he tried to destroy my base but could only blockade it because of the eleven Gencore II's I had there. I held out a long time and nearby broke the blockade a few times...then he brought a DS to the party, and blew the planet. :(
"I want to mow down a bunch of motherfuckers with absurdly large weapons and relative impunity - preferably in and around a skyscraper. Then I want to fight a grim battle against the unlikely duo of the Terminator and Robocop. The last level should involve (but not be limited to) multiple robo-Hitlers and a gorillasaurus rex."--Uraniun235 on his ideal FPS game

I like it, but then again I don't particularly think of it as a direct view of SW, Reb Ed is fun; setting it on hard with full Imperial era ships and characters. I have a question, did they create Zuggs?

The battle cutscenes were all quite good- I especially love where three ISDs ambush a Calamari Cruiser and a Corellian Corvette. A few shots is all it takes to blow the corvette in half.

Why can't some developer make: SW-Total War, which mates the brilliant turn based gameplay of Total War games, with their brutal and wonderful tactical interface and a SFC/Homeworld-esque spacewarfare interface...

Yes, yes.... My preciousssss...

Only problem is games would take slightly shy of forever if you modelled the SW universe on any real scale.

Macromanagement I guess, big engagements you could look up, heck even the HoI engine could do proper tactical engagements.

There's a thingy in there, where you assign personell to the mission. Not too hard to find but I can't describe it worth jack shit ATM...sorry. :(

Anyway, as to cool cutscenes, can anyone list them all, and the various still images it has? I went surfing through RebEd one night and found some stills I never saw used.

Anyway, the cutscenes I know of are Coruscant falls, Rebel HQ falls, Death Star blows up a planet, Rebels/Empire falls/wins and the start up stuff.

What's the scene like when a DS attack fails? I never saw that, because my X-wings were just too bad ass it seems...

Same, except they get shot down in the trench, and the station doesn't explode.

I think theres also one for a DS Sabotage mission, though as the AI never build any DS's, I never got to find out.

Two A-Wings pulling out of the trench and then they got shot down, I think. I don't really remember but it something similar to that.

Well somebody on RebEd made an AI that, does it and a saved game with two Death Stars.

When you set up a mission, you have one left and one right column with people to assign. Everyone on the right acts a decoy while those on the left carries out the objective.
