It's just that Brother Bear rates higher on her must see chart right now. She asked me last night if we could see ROTK after Brother Bear - as in right afterwards.

I don't think there will be any issues with her not enjoying this one. She even understands the basics of the story (Chastising her mom once when we were watching the scene with the Balrog. Her mom asked why the Balrog was chasing them and my daughter sighed dramtically and said "Mommy it wants the little boy's ring, pay attention.") Plus she is very well behaved in a movie theater unlike some of these little barabarians I suffer through in Disney films.

Cool kid! When are you going to have her start posting here?
And aren't my precognitive powers cool?

Don't give in Strav. If I had to watch every sugary piece of crap my three kids want to see, I'd be in a coma.Stravo wrote:*Sigh* I guess I have no choice. Fuck, I managed to dodge Sinbad and some other crappy film but Brother Bear is going to do me in....
Promise to buy the thing on DVD and let her watch it a will when you can leave the room. Family entertainment does not always have to be little kiddy shit, find a happy medium.
That is unless a tear falls down their little cheek and chrushes you heart....Then you just watch it and take it like a man.

I know she's seen the first two, but ROTK is a bit more violent (I think, anyway). Maybe it's better that she wait a bit before seeing it anyway.
But yeah, tricking her doesn't seem like the best idea. Yeah, it's might seem like a waste of money, but she'll appreciate it now (especially if she knows how much you don't want to go), and she'll laugh and kiss you later on for taking her now.
So, as hard as it might be, darlin'--just suck it up and deal.![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

I don't think RotK is any more violent Z, more like it makes the leap from personal combat to large scale combat. TTT has more large scale combat than FotR but most of RotK is large scale battle.Zaia wrote:I know she's seen the first two, but ROTK is a bit more violent (I think, anyway). I saw "The Towering Inferno" when I was about eight or so, and it took me a LONG time to get over seeing a person being burned alive, running around while on fire. That happens in ROTK. Not good for a kid to see, as far as I'm concerned.

Well, you are unusually sensitive and compassionate; a different kid might not react the same way.Zaia wrote:I saw "The Towering Inferno" when I was about eight or so, and it took me a LONG time to get over seeing a person being burned alive, running around while on fire. Damn! $20!!! I love Alabama. Only $5.50 for me. LoL!!! Just shut up and take her to see the fucking movie man. What's the deal. It's likely a great story, and I love me some cartoons, being a partiall yet not professional cartoonist myself.

Why thank you Cyran. I try my best, I want her to view LOTR as I veiwed Star Wars, the greastest cinemtaic experience of my life. She really surprised the hell out me when she kept wanting me to replay scenes with the Ringwraiths because they were 'cool'. Although she was frightened by the Balrog the first time she saw it.Captain_Cyran wrote: Stravo... dude... You're daughter is so awesome...

There is no way to dodge it, Stravo. Might as well take her to see Brother Bear. If I can sit through the Lizzie McGuire movie with my little cousin, than you can take this hit, man.
And incidently, the Nightmare Before Christmas is one of the best movies ever.

Stravo, while this isn't quite the same, it'll still help.
My gf's a trekkie. We went to see Nemisis on our first (and only) date (no, the relationship didn't end. We consider it a private joke that we have only gone on a single date) to see Star Trek: Nemisis.
Yeah, you heard me. Nemisis.
Now suck it up, and deal with it.

Good Lord, suck it up and take her to Brother Bear. I'm sure it's better then Spirit (or, as that kid called it in those damn commercials, "Spwiwit")

Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."
GOD I'm so glad I dodged that bomb as well. You have to undertsand, I've been lucky in that movies that she wants to see that would make me want to pass out she usually sees with her mom and her grandma. I'm "COOL DAD" I show her how to use DVD players and we sing along with Nightmare before Christmas, she sees movies no one else in her circle sees (Spirited Away not exactly well known in Bronx Puerto Rican households)and she sees LOTR in the theaters.Lonestar wrote:Good Lord, suck it up and take her to Brother Bear. So now I'm stuck with this damned Brother Bear.

NYC Loews currently cost $10.25 for adults, $6.50 for children.SylasGaunt wrote:Well if you've got the cash and the time you could always go with the 'see them both' idea. As if the prices weren't bad enough try finding a matinee showing here in Manhattan. There are some theaters in the outer boroughs that have matinee showings but here in the city no matter what time, day what have you it's full price all the time.
