Which decision in regards to the making and delivery of a nation's armaments caused the most harm to its armed forces?

My choice: Italy before 1943. Italian soldiers were horrendously under-equipped for combat, and Mussolini ordered several factories output to be slaked for EXPORT!

Hitlers probobly made the worst mistakes. His decision to divert resources from aircraft manufacturing to construction of V2 missiles was a very bad choice. The V2 was ahead of its time but it did not have quite effect Hitler thought it would.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

I dont know about the "most harm" but how about one that "pissed me off" when I learned about it.

The BAR was not given to American troops in WWI because the enemy might capture it. So they were given some piece os shit machine gun put together by the French. WTF !!!!!

DONT EVER BUILD, DESIGN, OR TEST A WEAPON Unless you intend to use it in battle.

Ah, you mean the Chaut-chaut wasn't a top of the line weapon?! WTF are you talking about? It only jammed after the first 3 rounds and ended up with mud being gunked into the reciever. Just because troops used it as a melee weapon more than a range weapon doesn't mean anything!

Yes, I'd have to agree, the Chaut-chaut LMG FUBAR is one of the worst the US military has had.
