Does anyone have the score to Blade Runner?

I always rememberd liking it a lot when watching the movie but I didn't care for it after I got it on CD.

Oh yea. Two scores that I've bought in the last two months are the soundtracks for The Day the Earth Stood Still and Forbidden Planet. They are both good but the FB one is great. I believe the composers got a special Oscar ™ because it was so good and because it was so new for it's time the accademy didn't know how to consider it.

Go to www.soundamerica.com for your movie score needs,they`re not MP3s but they`re still good and none are those damn midi files.

I loved Howard Shore's work on all 3 LotR films. I've listened to Return of the King many times since I got it for Christmas. My favorite theme from RotK is the Minas Tirith/Gondor theme. I love lots of brass, especially French Horns. All 3 scores are rapidly rising to the top of my favorites list, although nothing is going to bump the Holy Trilogy (SW/ESB/RotJ) from my #1 spot.

The only one I *had* was the FotR OST, but my stupidass CD player scratched the first three tracks, as it had a bad habit of scratchign the 2nd track on CDs..

I have the Blade Runner score. not bad, some good electronic stuff from Vangelis but not all that good for repeat listens, with the exceptions of a track or two. The original release featured sound clips of dialogue in the actual tracks, but i also have a newer, possibly-bootlged version with the complete, unedited score.

While i'm on the subject, i HATE IT when scores mix in movie dialogue! Why do they do it? they know we bought the damned thing to hear the music! The Hannibal score did this, but thankfully the voice overs were done fairly artistically--it helps to have Anthony Hopkins narrating.

Speaking of Blade Runner, if you like those kinds of electronic 80's scores, Vince DiCola's score for Transformers the Movie is an absolute must-have. Portions of it were originally included on the first soundtrack release in the 80's, but due to fan demand a 2-CD limited edition of the complete score was put out during Botcon 97 and has since become the conventions best-selling merchandise. Its a really cool score.

The Dust Brothers score for Fight Club is really good too--a good electronic/techno-rock hybrid.

HOLY SHIT!! There's a 2 CD set of the Transformers soundtrack?!? I only have the original 1 disk set. Is there somewhere where I can obtain this gem?

Oh, by the way, the soundtrack to The Matrix is, IMO, pretty good, as is the OST to Queen of the Damned, as well as Nosferatu.

Well if your so inclined, its had the shit bootlged out of it over the internet.

But if you want to actually buy it, go to the botcon website, i think you still might be able to order it. they re-stock it every year but it always sells out. I'm not sure if they're carrying it anymore.

For fans its a must though. Theres even some unused bonus tracks. But there is one problem though--the three or four tracks that were used in the original soundtrack album are not reproduced for some reason, IIRC. I burned my own version with everything on it though.

The disk is called Till All Are One, FYI. Check E-bay perhaps.[/quote]

The Star Wars trilogy had the best film music I've ever heard, period. I love everything that was in the original trilogy, with the exception of Lapti Nek. I can't listen to the whole song on my CD without skipping to the next track. The Special Edition just added crap to an otherwise amazing soundtrack. That stupid elevator music that replaced the Ewok song at the end of RotJ...(shudders)...ruined the ending to the entire Star Wars movie saga. BAH!

are you talking about the trailers to Alien where it shows the egg and that weird "screaming"-like sound effects, which then burts into a barage of quick cut edits? That, as far as i know, is simply trailer music, and does not appear in the films, and likely will never be available for public use.

Most of the trailers for the sequels used James Horners track from Aliens, "Bishops Countdown", which has since been used in just about every trailer ever made. The track itself is just a ripoff of John Williams final moments from the Battle of Yavin when the death star is about to fire and explode.

I know!!!! That pissed me off bigtime! He also left out the part in "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron" where "our hero" is in the river rapids trying to save Rain. That is by far the best song in the entire movie. He also left off the part where everyone escapes from the railroad construction site.

How can I not love Lapti Nek? It reminds me of how much better 1970s pop music was than what infests the airwaves now!

Besides, what replaced it makes it sound good in comparison.

With regards to the original Ewok celebration aka the "Yub Yub" song, it's one of the very very few Williams cues that I actively dislike. I much prefer the SE version. I can say, though, with complete conviction that John Williams is my all-time favorite film score composer. His scores comprise a good 75-80% of my CD collection.

Currently, I haven't listened to any Williams in 3 or 4 days (gasp!) since Return of the King has imprinted on my brain. Only repeated listenings will cure that. Gotta love that Minas Tirith/Gondor theme...

That's funny, seeing as how it was probably made in 1982-83, since RotJ was released in 1983, and I believe John Williams usually composes the SW scores near release. You can even hear the 80's-ness of it.

Besides, what replaced it makes it sound good in comparison.

Certain parts of Lapti Nek are kind of good, but I don't like the whole thing enough to actually choose to listen to it.

The early 80's were pretty much the same as the late 70's, just as the early 2000's were pretty much the same as the late 90's. The "disco" sound lasted well into 1982/1983, where it began to be replaced with the "synth pop" sound of the 80's.

Anyway, i prefer the SE music for ROTJ. The finale is a nice, subdued and reflective piece that suites the more personal nature of the ending, since the emphasis now becomes Vader's redemption rather than the Rebels triumph. Yub Yub was good, but the new one just feels more appropriate, with its nice sad undertone.
