One thing that stuck out:

In Britain, surveys indicate that for many teenagers becoming pregnant is an aspiration: the benefits and cheap local authority housing available is seen by some as a reason to become pregnant - especially for teenagers from impoverished or broken homes. A recent poll by the Family Education Trust indicated that 45 per cent of single pregnant teenagers had either wanted to conceive or "didn't mind" that they had. The introduction of £5,000 worth of free nursery care to enable pregnant teenagers to return to school is seen by many as a "perverse incentive" to attract young girls into parenthood.

Now, I don't necessarily agree that abstinance only education is the cause of the drop, more like one of many effects of a changing view from society towards sex, but I did think that the contrast between the two girls was interesting. Any brits have more info on what goes on over there?

as a teenager in Britain its hard to walk around the school and not nnotice thepeople who have actually got pregnat with some twenty year old and left to live with him in some shit hole , it really sucks when you see how many there are

ive seen at least 20 in my year alone , and this is one of the place you would least expect it , no where near the cities or anything

There are five underage pregnancies in my year alone at the moment. These girls are fifteen. The year before another couple of girls were pregnant too.

well down here in Devon where the grockels grow , we have ALOT of Brummie girls who pay no heed to the warning that are given in sex ed whatsoever, we then compare it the local kids who had an attention span greater than that of a small bored toddler.

When you see the people their getting banged by , you have to wounder whats gotten in their heads.

And i expect that being at a c=Catholic school would effect what ypu would see compared to a state school , Faith is a powerful thing

I'm not so sure, going to church was frowned upon by the student body so there wasn't all that much faith going around, the average grades were well above the national average which probably has more to do with it.

i could say something about higher grades but i wont

Yet, from what you have told me, there is no actual diffrence from a Religios school compared to a normel Selective school, or boarding school.

at the state school where i go to at the moment we have above average results for the country GCSE's wise but when you compare it to anouther school up the road you can understand, My college has 450 +, the college in the next town? 3000, we only get the higer grades because of the class sizes, most schools now suffer from 35 plus in their class sizes, we only have 25, yet even with the addition help given to them , these girls keep going down the road tto depression and wasting their later life redoing their missed classes and exams
