Damn popups!

Post by Beowulf »

My GF is currently having problems with a pop-up window appearing almost every time she types a url in IE. She does have pop-up blocker software, and it occurs regardless of which page is accessed. Any clue as to what might be happening?

Spyware/malware, most likely. Get HijackThis!, run it, post the log here...

Gator or Gain are the most likely suspects. I had that on my computer in work and it made accessing my e-mails dodgy to say the least. I opened an e-mail from a recruitment agency and all off a sudden 3 pop ups about "looking for a new job" popped up.
