I'm not so sure. In managerial science lab my group came up with metrics to measure confidence in security on campus.
Violence is immeasurable. Confidence is not (to an extent).
Inner city = suburb, in many cases.
Well, there's an interesting project for an intrepid poster.
What else do you call a subset of a large city?
Which is apparently more than your own. I guess I have more authority on the matter, huh?
I doubt it, really. If your experience tracked with mine--if you'd spent your life hopping around major cities--I might reconsider. I've spent most of my life in Queens, New York. We have dozens of inner city communities to choose from just in that area. And then I get five other borroughs to play with. Since I'm feeliing so generous today, I'll call it a draw. ;)

Oh, seems I forgot to mention all of the six or so subsections of Albuquerque I've lived in.. Big fucking deal, you have been in larger cities than I have. In New York, it's all the same in tha area. Why? Because it's a centralized locality. Having lived across the country, I'd say I've more experience than you.

Why is violence immeasurable? We simply come up with an operating definition we can quantify and go from there.
What else do you call a subset of a large city?
Oh, I thought you were saying some suburbs have as high (or low) crime rates as inner cities. So what does suburb = city mean?
Oh, seems I forgot to mention all of the six or so subsections of Albuquerque I've lived in.. Big fucking deal, you have been in larger cities than I have. In New York, it's all the same in tha area. Why? Because it's a centralized locality.
Hahaha. That's bullshit.
Having lived across the country, I'd say I've more experience than you.
Hmm...some assorted small towns and Albuquerque. Nah, I'ma stick with my Cambridge and NYC experience. I've also lived in Newburgh, NY for two years.

Generaly as a rule, I always think wiggers have probably seen Menace To Society a few too manys times.
Luckily there are very few around here, it's mainly townies I have to put up with and from them the slang is few and far between...maily because the only words they use are: "sound" "innit" "blatently" and "Oi oi".

Pointless flaming and dickwaving split. I'll remind you all that even though Revprez has earned a custom title, flaming him when he's behaving civilized and ignoring his arguments in favor of insulting him is spam, and if more of it lands in the HoS some people who weren't expecting it might just get the Horseman treatment.

And now, this thread is getting sent back to Off Topic. Going up.

Misstatement on my part. It is measurable.. but only to an extent. Rather, the violence you wish to measure is inside a person - that is immeasurable, as is confidence.

Norfolk isn't exactly a small town, you know. It IS home of the largest naval base.. Which is why I was there (navy family), but that's aside from the point. I know what it's like, just as you do, but I'd rather you not try to say that southeastern and southwestern inner cities are the same as northeastern ones, because they are anything BUT.

I'm no psychologist, so I'm gonna pass taking up the internal stuff. Why is confidence immeasurable? You have consumer confidence indices, after all.
I said that an inner city is a suburb, in many cases, though that is not always true.
I'm not following you. Perhaps my notion of "inner city" differs from yours.
So you're trying to say that the inner cities are all the same across the board? THAT is bullshit, and I, for one, should know.
No, I'm saying it's bullshit to say NYC is all the same.

I've noticed a general obsession among many middle-class white kids to make their lives seem worse than they actually are. People in general like to do this for some reason.

And let's face it. The media, to some extent, glamorizes the "gangsta" lifestyle. Kids think that it's exciting and stimulating. They see movies that feature their favorite rap stars and all that shit, so they get this weird idea of what life as an outlaw is like. There's sex, drugs, women and lots of money to be had. You don't have to go to school, and you scoff at the law because you're a bad-ass.

They've obviously never seen movies like Blow or Requiem for a Dream, which paint a far more accurate picture of the drug trade and what life as an outlaw is really like.

My favorite wigga...

Image

Aight
When this neighborhood psychopath isn't torturing your house cat, he's intimidating the local children for lunch money. Armed with a pellet gun, this wigger not only conveys the promise of a nasty bruise or minor infection, he epitomizes the fact that suburbs everywhere have lost their innocence. The home owner's regulations and zoning restrictions are but a facade, hiding something so terribly gruesome we've yet to talk about it.
