I didn't either (of course primaries have just begun) but I think it's mostly because people are looking for some one electable rather than idealogical crank that won't make it.Joe wrote:WOW, Dean got spanked. I wasn't expecting it to be that bad.
I'm rather pleased to see Kerry and Edwards in the top runners. I'd love to have a decent moderate instead of Bush.
Kerry's not a decent moderate and he has the consistency of a millimeter thick tampon. Edwards is closer to that description.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

Thus Demised Dick Gephart.
And, I might add as humour, the last results I saw had Kucinich getting more then Wes Clark (not that it matters.)

Amazing. A few days ago I read a poll that had Kucinich ahead of Clark and swore it was a mistake. Guess not.Straha wrote:Thus Demised Dick Gephart.

But did you know he served in Vietnam?Joe wrote:Kerry's not a decent moderate and he has the consistency of a millimeter thick tampon. Edwards is closer to that description.
Seriously, this is a boost for the Edwards campaign. They'll be going into NH with momentum, while Dean is starting to slide..

I would hesitate to look at a single state and predict a slide from it. Dean never had more than a 6% lead in Iowa, and polling in Iowa is kinda wacky anyway. If he fails similarly in NH, then I may agree with you.

Well the psychological impact from the loss is pretty significant. In the voters eyes, this is a pretty huge failure. I'm not saying he can't recover, but it isn't great news for him.Howedar wrote:I would hesitate to look at a single state and predict a slide from it. Of course I know he served in Vietnam. And may we never, ever forget it (he sure as hell wouldn't let us).Alex Moon wrote:But did you know he served in Vietnam?Joe wrote:Kerry's not a decent moderate and he has the consistency of a millimeter thick tampon. Edwards is closer to that description.

The fact that Kerry spanked Dean by such a huge margin and that Edwards nearly did the same is going to resonate with Democratic voters. They're looking for a guy who can win, and to do that you need to bring out the whole party. If Dean's showing in NH is anything like this, people are going to wonder whether or not he can bring out moderates democrats and independants. The Kernel wrote:Well the psychological impact from the loss is pretty significant. Yes. As I said, if another poor showing occurs then I will agree with you.

No, Michael Bolton singing at a Gephardt rally and some guy in the background waving a Gephardt sign in rhythm. You had to see it, but it was funny.

Yeah, in this election a lot of democrats are looking for some one that can damn well win, not necessarily the one that fits them most ideologically. If Dean has a bad showing it's going to cripple him no matter how much his ideology works for them. It seems he really does lack the moderate appeal he needs.Alex Moon wrote:The fact that Kerry spanked Dean by such a huge margin and that Edwards nearly did the same is going to resonate with Democratic voters. Maybe this is the boost Kerry needs to get his house out of mortage.
It is interesting as hell though, Kerry is a maluable mother fucker and it'll be interesting to see where he stands on alot of shit now.

They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
