Good mail clients

I need a mail client. It has to be good, and it has to be free (preferably legally

). What do you all recommend?

Well, there's Mozilla Mail and Mozilla Thunderbird (be warned, the latter is still pre-release). Eudora has an adware free edition though some universities have a site license.

On the Linux side, there's KMail and Evolution (I use the latter).

I never had any problems with Outlook, security- or otherwise.
If you know how to work with Outlook, it's quite secure to use...

Been using Mozilla Thunderbird for a while now. It's small, fast and has all the features you need in a mail client. Highly recommended.

Outlook XP and Outlook 2003 can be properly secured and they are powerful e-mail clients. That said, they aren't free, either.

They are also somewhat bloated as pure email clients. If you are looking for an email client with a built in calender/scheduler, then sure, they are great solutions. But as pure email they are overkill.

You're looking at the person who uses Ximian Evolution as an email client only here

I just installed Mozilla Thunderbird.

I think I'm liking it better than Pegasus, which is what I've been using for a while.

Outlook is an annoying piece of shit. I say go with Mozilla Mail, which I only switched to last year (used to use Netscape 4.7).
