Also, did anyone catch Hillary Clinton joyously applauding tort reform? She's on her way to becoming a regular black sheep.
Also, the look on Nancy Pelosi's face is really freaking me out. I feel like she's staring directly into my soul.

How in the fuck are we supposed to inspect 100% of the shipping containers entering the United States?
Any city gets what it admires, will pay for, and, ultimately, deserves…We want and deserve tin-can architecture in a tinhorn culture. And we will probably be judged not by the monuments we build but by those we have destroyed.--Ada Louise Huxtable, "Farewell to Penn Station", New York Times editorial, 30 October 1963

I'm right now watching Hillary Clinton applaud tort reform for medical lawsuits.
Either she's really moving to the center -- which would explain the lack of lightning bolts, earth not opening to swallow her whole, etc. -- or god doesn't watch the news.
On a similar note, they caught Charles Rangel napping.

I'm disappointed that he wants to renew the PATRIOT act. I'm also mystified that he's saying that the Iraqi Governing council is drafting a free constitution and bill of rights, particular since we just heard that GC wants to put Iraq under the Sharia. Plus, the continued references to WMD programs. You'd think he'd want to avoid that subject, since they haven't found anything with substance.
Oh, and Joe:
Oh, and Joe:
His latest statement on the issue, meaning it cancels out any contrary statements made before it.A strong America must also value the institution of marriage. I believe we should respect individuals as we take a principled stand for one of the most fundamental, enduring institutions of our civilization. Congress has already taken a stand on this issue by passing the Defense of Marriage Act, signed in 1996 by President Clinton. That statute protects marriage under Federal law as the union of a man and a woman, and declares that one state may not redefine marriage for other states. Activist judges, however, have begun redefining marriage by court order, without regard for the will of the people and their elected representatives. On an issue of such great consequence, the people's voice must be heard. If judges insist on forcing their arbitrary will upon the people, the only alternative left to the people would be the constitutional process. Our Nation must defend the sanctity of marriage.

Read his statement. He said that if state courts continue legalizing gay marriage, he said that the "only alternative" was a Constitutional amendment. To define the Sanctity of Marriage. I thought it was a solid speech. I also appreciated that Bush dealt with a number of issues in a broad range, although my father was still put out by the amount of time devoted to national security issues.
I was enthused by the President’s reading the list of Coalition members, and despite the time it takes, I rather wished he’d finished the final seventeen. It’s good that he made a big deal about the fact that we still have considerable support on the international stage.
As everybody here doubtless already knows, I also support faith-based service organizations. Let’s admit it: most Americans are religious and will thus feel somewhat more comfortable looking in that direction anyway, and as long as service organizations do not discriminate, it’s still a free meal or cot for the night, preaching or no.
If I had to make criticisms, they would be as follows …
First of all, Bush appeared to mispronounce the word “nuclear” on purpose. He didn’t need to do this to prove the point that dialect or mispronunciation don’t make or break a leader.
Second, I don’t support his position on the teaching of Abstinence. While I do respect that some parents wish to discuss reproduction in their own time, most public schools already reveal the “secrets” of sexual reproduction in the fifth grade classroom. What they also need to do is keep students fully knowledgeable about options once they do have sex – because they are. Abstinence is laudable – but never alone.
Third, he needn’t make so many references to America as civilization. It unnecessarily calls into comparison America and its terrorism enemies, virtually all of which are Arab Muslims whose sympathizers are already on the defensive. We don’t need to give them more ammunition with which to insist we mean to erase all of Islam from the world.
Fourth, he could do to remove God from his speeches save as a closer. It just makes more people feel better; most people won’t miss it, but they will resent it when it shows up.
Fifth, his position on gay marriage is ridiculous. Church is separate from state, and laws should not be made on Biblical grounds. Unlike letting a church give aid, this isn’t practical. Nobody can prove that homosexual relationships spread disease. There is no reasonable grounds to deny marriage to all Americans.
Aside from these five factors, I liked the speech very much and still consider Bush to be the best candidate.
I agree that Pelosi has ridiculously bulging eyes and that Tom Daschale could put the Sandman to sleep. The Democarts' arguments have more holes than Bush's, starting with their unreasonable expectations about foreign relations.

Why do you think he did it on purpose, rather than doing it because he can't speak English?First of all, Bush appeared to mispronounce the word “nuclear” on purpose. He didn’t need to do this to prove the point that dialect or mispronunciation don’t make or break a leader.
