Best Series

Inspired from the best mini series thread.

What is the best series you have seen / Own?

For me it's "The World At War"

World class documentary about the 2nd World War.

MacGyver would always be the best series I've ever seen.

I second World at War. Lawrence Olivier narrating WW2 is awesome, the choice of music for each episode is always spot on, and the opening theme of each episode is the most moving I've ever heard for a documentary, EVER.

As far as documentaries go, the more modern "Battlefield" Series was positively awesome. It is entertaining for those among us who aer learned in WWII-era military history as well as people who don't know who rommel was, let alone what he accomplished. Simply awesome. It gives commentaries on weapon systems, soldiers, famous figures, etc. that gets my vote.

For fiction? I was and always will be a HUGE fan of 3Rd rock from the sun. John Lithgow (Surprisingly) was pure comic genius in that show. all the actors pulled off the "Dumb alien" act very well, and I don't think a single episode went by where I didn't ROFLMAO, to coin a phrase.

"the Color of War" is a good non-fic documentary. Gives an impressive and not very widely seen view of WW2.

Nonfiction: Nova
Fiction: There are a lot of good ones, Farscape is up there, though if we're going straight fiction I've got to parrot and say 3rd rock.
Inbetween the two: Daily Show:D

I need to get that, but at nearly 200 quid on DVD, it's pricey. I want the WWI stuff as well, my grandpa used to have it on VHS before he left this mortal coil.

Keeping on documentaries, the Seven Wonders Of The Industrial World series was amazing. Best documentary in years and it HAS to come out on BBC DVD soon.

JESUS! 200 pounds? I picked mine up for 100 bucks American, and dvdplanet.com sells it for 90. You need to get a Region 1 player!
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

Comedy: The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Replaced the Simpsons as the funniest show on TV.

Regular drama: Law & Order.

What all's in it? Mine (the only American version, AFAIK) has got the whole series, plus "The Making of the World at War", an interview with Traudl Junge, Hitler's secretary, a bit by Stephen Ambrose called "From War to Peace", a bit called "Hitler's Germany", one called "Warrior", "The Two Deaths of Adolf Hitler" about Hitler's death, and "The Final Solution", about, well, the Final Solution.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'
