Command of Starfleet
ok then. Lets say that you are in Starfleet (some Fleet Admiral stationed on some deep space station.) Some er... ISD has just arrived in orbit of Earth, blasted apart Starfleet HQ, and left. (The ONLY thing it did was blast HQ and kill everyone ranked higher then you.)
Due to this you have headed back to Earth and taking full command of Starfleet.
What do you do with it?
(and you CAN'T say scrap it or anything like that)

You are killed on the way to Earth

ok then put it this way.IG-88E wrote:Take the reins, rebuild...and get wiped out when the ISD comes back.
On your way back to Earth, you look over the reports of the attack which killed SFC. You look though your LCARS database and find the "old" Star Wars movies (etc). Thinking that the ISD *might* come back, and you know (thanks to an act of Q having put "true" data on the ISD and other ships in the movies (or something like that anyway)) what the ISD can do. (Firepower, speed, etc) You don't know when it will come back or if it will even come back at all.
What do you do?
Akira, nothing changes here. The scenario is the same: take over, rebuild, elect a ne president, but now they'll always be paranoid about the ISD.Akira wrote:ok then put it this way.IG-88E wrote:Take the reins, rebuild...and get wiped out when the ISD comes back.

The president is based in Paris. not San Fan. Starfleet Command is in San Fan. So they would not have been harmed by the attack.IG-88E wrote:Akira, nothing changes here. Noticed by what? The ISD that disappered? The one that Q sent back?Mr Bean wrote:You need a minium of 1k Ships to Dance with that ISD and survive, Can you get that many and not be noticed?
Probably not...
This is just to see what someone who knows everything about what they *might* have to fight (The empire) would do to get ready for a war they could win. It's not meant to be about how many SF ships you need at TNG levels to kill an ISD.

Surrender and beg for mercy. Starfleet can't possibly stand up to the Empire.Akira wrote:What do you do with it?

Face it Akira, there is no special trick or techno blaah blaah answer for ST to beat a ISD without huge numbers of ships against one. To win, you need to advance acouple thousand years, and have stronger shields, weapons, and hulls. Sorry man but its just the way it is.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Run like hell, and seek sanctuary with the Organians or Q.Akira wrote:ok then put it this way.IG-88E wrote:Take the reins, rebuild...and get wiped out when the ISD comes back.

All Good Things and End Game (TNG, VGR) are indications of how quickly ST weaponry can advance. Given 29th century technology as well, the Federation only needs a few hundred years.Knife wrote:Face it Akira, there is no special trick or techno blaah blaah answer for ST to beat a ISD without huge numbers of ships against one. I don't know, since we costantly see one hit wonders on ST. They seem capable of coming up with good ideas for weapons and stuff, but seem to forget them even quicker than they thought of them.

All I think AGT and EG shows us is that the Feds finaly use common sense and come up with armor and heavier weapons. Though they had to put their own weird spin on them. Why would you beam armor on to your ship? Just put it there and use the energy for something else useful.

Ok so i'm the C&C of Starfleet, SFHQ is gone. put my head between my legs and kiss my ass goodbye.
Serriously i'd stop putting resources into exploration shit ans pump all resorces into weapon systems, maybe try and copy an ISD, Maybe build a huge Defiant.
Make a treaty with all the other major powers in the AQ. A mutual defence pact maybe, combine all technology.
develop better warp drives so we can piss off if/when the ISD comes back
