Free Galaxies re-trial for former players

Post by Brother-Captain Gaius »

For those dissatisfied with the game in its earlier months they're starting up a 2-week free trial period if you've got an old account.
Dear Former Star Wars Galaxies Members!

Star Wars Galaxies™: An Empire Divided™ is better than ever and we are reactivating your former account so you can try out all the new features and content FREE for 14 days!

This FREE reactivation period will begin Tuesday, January 20, 2004 and end Monday, February 2, 2004, after which you will need to re-subscribe in order to keep your account activated. Just log in to your old account; it will be automatically reactivated during this offer period. (If you can't remember your login information, just go to our Username/Password Recovery Page.)

We look forward to seeing you again! May the Force be with you!

-The Star Wars Galaxies Team

Be sure to check out the following new features in Star Wars Galaxies:

Player Mounts
Creature Handlers can now train dewbacks, kaadu, and several other animals for use as mounts, which can be used by other players for both travel and combat. Mounts can even be trained to do special tricks.

Player Vehicles
In order to increase the ease of movement throughout the game, a number of authentic Star Wars vehicles, including landspeeders, swoop bikes, and speeder bikes are available to help transport players more quickly and in style.

Player Cities
Create and run your own city, complete with cantinas and shuttleports. By exploring a new profession, the Politician, you can conduct elections, set and collect local taxes, and appoint other players to the local militia as your city grows from a small settlement into a metropolis.

Cries of Alderaan
An ongoing story arc called The Cries of Alderaan will begin Act III, in which the Rebels and Imperials will battle over a new secret weapon known only as Dead Eye. Each Act of Cries of Alderaan adds new missions and badges for each player.

New Dungeons
Several new dungeons have been added to the game, including: The Warren, an Imperial installation overrun by demented cyborg creatures; The Nightsister Cave, a lair a giant spider worshipped by the witches of Dathomir; and a sprawling pirate base on Lok.

I thought they were giving away free copies of the game. What a disappointment.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

It's the new MMORPG i play. It's not long started but not half as buggy as SWG was when i started. I play as a warrior blacksmith. I make really good swords, then i use them. It's also cheaper to play than SWG, the game is 15 pounds to buy and 8 or so a month after, but it's yet to ask me for Credit Card details and the like. Most of the old Ultima Online community will be joining Horizons.

SWG was so bad it made me angry.

Well it's insane they raised the monthly fee for UO, especially after all the problems we had with Age of Shadows. The in-game events are not announced, they just say something will happen 'soon' and you have to check the town criers (who haven't said anything!), then you wait for over 12 hours and nothing happens, you come back next day and nothing has happened, then some idiot EM comes and takes you to Felucca where everyone get's PKed, and you do not even get a reward for all your troubles and stuff you lost. (this was the second of those Royal Guard events) My god, what a bunch of fun. It caused me to quit and start my own Ultima Online server.
Stubborn as ever - Let's hope it pays off this time.

But here's the problem: I really hate fantasy games. I hate D & D, I hate Everquest, etc. I don't like that genre, so at least Galaxies is Star Wars.

Barely. Don't get me wrong, i like Star Wars, i like it so much this game made me cry every time i played it. Most importantly SWG is fucking boring. In the game you can get no-where is you don't do missions. But each mission required ages just to arrive to.

History? I love history! First, something happens, then, something else happens! It's so sequential!! Thank you first guy, for writing things down!

Galaxies is crap, pure and simple. The combat system is crap, the profession system is crap, the release execution was crap, in-game support, crap, Graphics....Eh. I'm sticking with Anarchy online, it may be dated, but it's infinitely more fun. Bite me, SOE.
