Dennis Leary is a fucking idiot then, whoever he is.
Actually, he wasn't being serious. That was part of his comedy routine, and his "we got the nu-cu-lar bomb" bit was included in his "I'm an asshole" song, so it was actually a snide commentary on warmongerers.

He's not the greatest comedian, but he has his moments.

Funny comedian from Boston. He wrote that asshole song somebody posted in this thread.
The phrase "Go figure" pops instantly to mind.
Well, this fat work force is already kicking ass when it comes to productivity. In manufacturing, we're No. 5 (behind Taiwan, Korea, France and Sweden [wtf?]).
The US has a large, if not, the largest manufacturing industry on the planet. A lot of other nations in the West are moving from that area and going into services or logistics, the UK for instance is much lower on that list than it would've been 50 or so years ago.

In anycase, current trends aside, I'm thinking of the fat future which won't disappear into thin air unless something is done.
Well I'm sure I have a lot to live for, but I don't feel pressed to choose right now.
That's awfully defeatist, I'm sure you're at MIT for a reason and not for shits and giggles. I certainly know I want a real future and family in the years to come. If I didn't, I'd have got a job stacking cardboard at a local factory full time by now.
Well, I'm not exactly gunning to pick the time of my death. At least with cancer and slerosis, it's a gamble.

Fair doos, I was wondering quite how legit that could be, comedians can be hard to figure out in this screwy world now.

Or that you're a health nazi. Obligatory added.
By your logic suicide should be legalized since people have the right to harm themselves.

Okay, I've been smoking 13 years now and drinking for maybe nine or ten. What's my sign?

Yeah. Battling, fishing, pick up basketball, all sorts of things. Americans do a whole lot more than drink, smoke and eat fatty foods.

Sure, and so do most Americans. This seems to be something the Nanny Staters can't grasp.

But enough about me...this is N&P.

Coming from someone who does not see anti-sodomy laws as "undue corruption" of government from religion (click here), this is pretty fucking funny.
But enough about me...this is N&P.
I can see how you'd want to deflect attention away from your own incredible hypocrisy.

I don't know. I put in 40 hour work weeks 9 out of the 12 months of the year to pay for school. I don't see what parenthood or volunteerism has to do with adulthood.

Yes, I live to know what you of me. But seriously, why do this here? Wouldn't Off Topic or HoS be a better place? And there was a pretty reasonable discussion on topic going on in this thread.

How does that address the fact that you think anti-sodomy laws are justifiable while simultaneously decrying any attempt to do anything about America's fattening population? The damage done by obesity is objective.

Britain is said to be on the brink of an obesity epidemic. According to figures from the Department of Health, more than 8.5% of 6 year olds and 15% of 15 year olds in England are classified as obese.

http://www.healthypages.net/newspage.asp?newsid=3824
"The rise (in obesity) in Britain is as fast or faster than anywhere else in the world," Professor Philip James, the chairman of the International Obesity Task Force (IOTF), told a meeting of non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

I'm sure you'd agree though, that some people have kids because of selfish motives, while others express responsibility by not having kids, as well.

Well done on avoiding the real issue, Lord McPoe.

Now just point to me where I said Britain was exempt from this obesity crisis. What's that? You can't? Oh too fucking bad, guess you invoked some sort of fallacy there thinking I saw America as the only unhealthy nation on the planet. You seem kinda stupid on that high horse with that red herring now, the topic of course being about how AMERICA is so fat.

America is the fattest nation on the planet, not the sole obese nation on the planet (which, by the way, I never said). Don't like that, go and chew on a Big Mac, mate.
