Fallout 2 help (possible computer problem)

Post by 2000AD »

1) Playing Fallout 2 lastnight and it crashed so i reset the computer. Since that i haven't been able to get FO2 started as each time i try it says i need 30MB of hard drive space free, even though i have around 30gig free. I've tried re-installing it and that didn't work and right now i'm defregging the hardrive to see if that works. Any ideas on what's happened or what to try if that doesn't work?

2) how do you view those holodisc things you pick up?

Click on them and hold the LMB. When the pop-up menu displays, "use" them, that will download the data to your pip-boy. Use the "status" window to read the content.

1. Try to do the 600mb full install, works great for me and the game is worth it.

And don't forget to run the official patch. Can't comment on the unofficial one, because I haven't tested it. There's a part near the ending where you have to rescue that alien from planet Fronabulax that might crash if you're not holding the sword of Entor.

Well i got round the first problem by un-installing some stuff that i didn't need. Now i'm annoyed because whenever i do the first mission for the Salvatores in Reno (Get money off of Loyd) , when i go down the unearthed grave to get the money (after dropping the mine down) it crashes.
For the record i have the biggest installation installed.

Apply the patch. It's a known bug.

Also, the patch fixes (mostly :P ) the annoying habit of your car's trunk getting displaced to another town...

Normally you'd have to start over when applying the patch, but I think there's a tool that allows you to import your saved game.

As last I tried the unofficial patch, it still had some bugs in it, unfortunately (meaning I lost my entire party). But that was a few months ago, maybe I'll try again.
