Additional news on the Sun Angel tragedy. Secretary of State Dellstar reports that the Klingon council denies any involvement and refuses to make ship construction and sales data available to help the search for the Klingon ships.

An anonymous source in the UTR Intelligence Directorate has told TNN that scan data recovered from the attack does not point to the ships being operated by independents. He refused to comment on whether that meant the ships belonged to the Imperial Klingon Navy.

More developments as they happen.

As the Affront and remainder of the Corsair forces dropped into realspace, the Psychopath immediately locked horns with one of the HOU's, it's nearly two hundred strong ion cannon compliment engaging it's opponent's four Grid beams. The other HOU was set upon by the half-dozen Gangster's, eager to turn their CREWS beams on it's comparitively tiny hull.

The forces already in system were rapidly finding their hands full. While the Commonwealth offered a wealth of firepower, there was such a thing as a 'too target rich enviroment'. To the Big Stick, any one Cornerian vessel was a mosquito.. But there were alot of mosquitos. The battle was pitched, as ion cannon and CREWS fire met with hordes of missiles.

*******

Andrews, aware only vaguely of the happenings in the Cornerian capital, emerged from Nemesis and sped towards the remainder of the fleet. A single battleship and the rebuilt GSV stood guard over the Fleet Tenders, as the lord of the Republic returned. With, what he hoped, was salvation.

The Affront fleet, well trained in the pack hunter techniques, closed in on the more massive Cosair vessels. At point blank range thousands of conventional missles slammed into the Cosair vessels wounding them badly as the both fleet manuvered for advantage against the HOUs.

The Gangsters were confronted with nearly twice their firepower and were severly overmatched. The faster MOUs dodged ardroitly, preventing the larger, less manuverable Gangsters from bringing their CREWS beams to bear. They darted around, keeping in pairs, slashing with their Grid beams and constantly harrying the enemy with their plasma displacers.

-: Corneria, High Orbit :-

Grand Admiral St. Juste sat in the armored command-womb at the center of the Freya, linked to the Fleet by a multitude of communications officers and her tactical/strategic implants.

Assault Manipule Alpha microjumped from it's position at the edge of the system to support the Corsair vessels locked in combat with the Affront. The Dreadnoughts Artemis and Hathor, along with a half-dozen Adrastea-class Heavy Cruisers, began to pour sheets of fire into the MOUs, their heavy-bore Particle Beam Cannon pumping truly ridiculous amounts of fire into the smaller Affront craft. The Artemis,
name-ship of her class, began to send waves of large SRM hypermissiles into the Affront vessels- weapons which traded fuel stores for massive warheads and high-speed hyperjump devices.

Over Corneria, closer to the center of the system, the main Commonwealth fleet took advantage of it's numerical superiority and it's Swarmer pods to swat aside the Cornerian missile barrages long enough to close to energy range. The furious clash of Commonwealth capital turbolasers and particle cannon with the heavy Cornerian shielding and light energy armament intensified.

The Affront MOU's, now outnumbered and outgunned themselves, were shoved back. Privateer fighters were being displaced, lobbing bombs into the Affronter craft Field generators, hoping to cause their delicate power supplies to overload. The tide, slowly, was turning.

The Big Stick wasn't fairing as well. Supported, the HOU would be little more than scrap. As it was, the hypermissile swarm had eaten through his Fields and had ripped chunks out of it's hull. The ship refused to die or retreat, returning fire with massed ion volleys, forcing the Affront vessel into a momentary restart.

The moment was enough to take the heat off of the Psychopath Battleship. It's Displacers lobbed an object into the briefly unprotected ship.

"You lost this! Keep track of your toys!"

The Affront-made hypermissile went off.

Closer to the planet, the Psychopath fell onto four PRC Dreadnought's in a standard formation, wading through their missile fire and dropping them with terrifying speed.

"This isn't fun!" Complained the Captain. "How come I'm always stuck with the weaklings.. At least the Affront put up a decent fight.." He muttered, as he prepared his ship to withstand another storm of missiles..

{OOC-Thirdfain, the MOUs might be physically smaller, but they'd be far tougher than your own heavy cruisers. And simply brushing aside no less than three fleets (two freshly prepared for battle no less is bit over the top)}

Warrior's Heart shuddered as one of her own missles detonated inside her armor. Fortunately the missles weren't very powerful individually, it was only in quantity that they really mattered.

*Lets return the favor*

Warrior's Heart scooped up no less than six of the masive commonwealth missles and sent them right into the heart of the Commonwealth dreadnaught. All six detonating right in the heart of the ship. It was last gesture as the Affront vessel with drew to hyperspace, away from the clutches of the Commonwealth. All of the ships were heavily battered, but thank to the mostly ion barrage few had irrepairable damage.

-: Cornerian Battlefleet :-

The Commonwealth had taken the bait and had closed with a relatively weak detachment of the main force. They had closed with it and were now hammering away, but they were in turn taken by suprise as 1st and 3rd fleets jumped them.

Two full and ready fleets dropped in at missle range with the Commonwealth forces and showered them with a massive barrage of missles. They were targeted primarily on the capital ships of the enemy fleet and the high concentration overwhelmed the TSC point defense.

-ooc- Dude, I neer "brushed aside" anything. I simply stated that the Commonwealth fleet had closed to energy range with the Cornerians. As for the 1st and 3rd fleets being out of system, you stated yourself they were already present. seeing that I have had AM Alpha in-system the whole time monitoring the massage of vessels in and out, I would hae seen 1st and 3rd fleets present. Oh, and less than half of Beowulf's 7 fleets and none of his superheay ships are here, while 60% of the Commonwealth navy is here. And, the 1st and 3rd fleets have lost most of their escorts in the fighitng in the Azegart Empire.

And displacing through shields? BS. There is enough ECM floating around that your displacers would have a hard time getting a solid lock on my DNs in the first place. You would need to throw far more than 6 missiles to ensure a kill- -ooc-

The Artemis shook- three of the displaced missiles had been clean misses, but two had impacted on the shields and the other had materalized in her starboard decoy-missile holds, gutting almost half her decoy-missile arsenal and damaging the shield generators.

Closer to Corneria, the main Peep fleet had played it's hand. They had tried a combat foldjump on the Commonwealth main fleet, forgetting, apparantly, the lesson that had been hammered into their heads over Ulrich. The Commonwealth fleet couterfired it's own missile batteries, targetting the bright, lethal grav-flashes that Cornerian ships produced when exiting foldspace.

Without most of it's escorts, the Cornerian vessels would be hard-pressed to survive the whithering volley.

The Assault Fleet's four Fleet Carriers- the Freya, the Ishtar, the Cerridwen, and the Hera, along with seven large Commonwealth escort carriers, launched their fighter complements. Interceptors formed up, and headed the strike against the newly-arrived 3rd and 1st fleets. Their fire was focused on six of the 24 Peep dreadnoughts.

The heavy guns of the Commonwealth fleeet continued to ravage the 7th and 2cnd fleet. The second fleet, consisting largely of old cruisers, had already taken heavy casualties. The 7th's more modern Dreadnoughts were fiinding that the capital-scale guns of the Commonwealth fleet gave a distinct advantage in a knife-fight. One, then another, experienced shield-flare and exploded. Their own small-bore energy armament was of little use against the much larger Commonwealth capital ships.

The CNV Uller, shields peirced in a dozen places and venting atmosphere, gave up the ghost spectacularly. A swarm of Cornerian missiles gutted her, spraying fire and debris into the night. A trio of heavy cruisers met the same fate, along with a dozen smaller escort craft.

Trumphets blared over Dunlap. Banners were unfurled and the populus from noble man to working man cheered. The expedition was about to take off. Lord Alexander XI walked across the velvet rug from his throne to the Royal Shuttle. This had been the first time in nearly thirty years. The shuttle took off with the vital fleet and army commander to the Alexander Bremen, best ship of Dunlap, and now the flagship of his Royal Majesty. Numerous elements from internal royal reserves arrived, and more patrol cruiser taskforces were reactivated to shore the homeland. The Dunlap command would hyper to Ulrich and rendzevous with the II. [OOC - Storm? Not even I Displace through shields. Bad. Bad!]

With the Affront withdrawing, the Corsair fleet turned on the Cornerians. They hit the defending ships hard, two battleships focusing their massive ion arrays on one Troy after another, as they rocked with the counterfire. But still, the battle was going well. Displacers roared through defeated Commonwealth ships and crippled Corsair vessels, plopping their crews into the safety of ships still able to fight.

"Open up a path to the planet. We need to silence those ground guns, and we have just the medicine." Smirked the Captain of the Big Stick.

Fields gripped the Grid, and the Corsair vessels danced through the melee, plowing into the Cornerian lines and scattering them with a massive array of Displaced warheads and energy weapons fire.

Combat continues in the PRC and the Commonwealth proper. We are outnumbered, and though we are taking the lead in combat over Corneria, we are facing defeat in our home systems.

Our world of Coventry, in the province of the Harbinger March, is under seige by elements of the Krytos Imperial Navy. We request assistance in driving the Krytos off and relieiving the world's beleagured defenders.

Limited communications with the Coventry Defense Command will allow us to send you limited information on the locations of Krytosian warships in system. Please send help immediatly.

The First and Third Black Prides of the Kzin navy were taken off their patrol of Kzin space and brought back to Five Fangs to refuel and refit for a long-term mission. They exited Kzin space with their destination shrouded in secrecy. What information could be gleaned by the intelligence community suggested that they were going up above the galactic disk to search for the refugee remnants of the Black Alliance.

The rest of the fleet stood on high alert, and the Triad Head recieved a message. He was only too happy to pass it along for his old friend the Patriarch.

{OCC sorry, "swatted aside". And I did what I did because you basically ignored they were there.

As for the missles, what you posted works and I'm fine with it. But the fact is that the jamming and such was the reason it was only six missles and not more}

-: Desjardins :-

The Commonwealth wall of battle entered missile range with the Cornerian fleet. Outnumbered, and outgunned at this range by the Cornerian missileboats, the Commonwealth fleet would be at a serious disadvantage, even with their swarmer pods fully loaded and ready to clear aside the initial Cornerian volleys.

Already, the fighters of the Commonwealth fleet were speeding towards the Cornerian vessels, augmented by the planetary defense force's heavy fighters and strike craft, and covered by a volley of decoy missiles from the fleet proper.

"All vessels, tubes are clear to fire! Continue, you are NOT I repeat NOT cleared to use full Swarmer pods."

The Commonwealth vessels opened fire, the heaavy cruisers and dreadnoughts firing from their maags, the lighter craft emptying their rotary tubes, as they advanced towards the Cornerian fleet.

"Leftenant, you are to hold until the Cornerians return fire."

"Communications, wait for my signal."

[Desjardins, Cornerian Fleet]

"The commandship will commence fire. Target their dreadnaughts."

The enemy had obligingly closed the range, ensuring the kills. Four times the superlaser flashed in the void. Four times the Commonwealth wars were destroyed.

As the Commonwealth fire rained down on the Cornerian ships but the dispersed fire was not enough to overwhelm any particular ship. Shields weakened and more than a few had rents in their armor.

"Return fire, full salvos. Once you've emptied your launchers, close to energy range."

"Command! We are picking up a monsterous energy surge from one of the enemy commandships! 99 % probability it's a superlaser! Energy surge intensifying... We have four shots fired, repeat, four shots fired!"

The massive blasts of energy lashed out with ridiculous power, lancing through space at lightspeed. But the Cornerians had forgotten why missiles were generally the weapon of choice for ranged engagements.

"Command, they hit the Lillith! She's gone, Admiral!"

"The other shots?"

"Clean misses, Admiral. the other three shots went after decoys."

"Fools. They should have waited until we were at energy range. Leftenant! Order the special units, it['s time. All swarmer pods, prepare to discharge against the enemy missile volley."

Across the Cornerian fleet, alarms began to blare. Interdiction fields had sprung up from across the Commonwealth fleet, their sources, what had initially appeared to be a sextet of heavy cruisers, were in fact freighters, rapidly retrofitted with the interdictor devices the Nysfitsar had so generously donated. Each freighter hung right behind a Dreadnought, protected by it's bulk, linked to the PD of it's escorts.

"Communications. Signal our friends, tell them it is time."

The signals lept into hyperspace, bearing a message- our part of the trap is sprung. Now it is your turn.

"Sir. The Commonwealth Navy is signalling us. They say its time."

Rear Admiral Willtan was flying his flag from TNS Republic. The most powerful warship in the United Terran Republic Navy. Task Force 51 which also consisted of a pair of Battlecruisers, two Fleet Carriers, five Light Carriers, ten Heavy Cruisers, ten Light Cruisers, twenty-six Destroyers and a dozen Frigates.

"Signal the fleet to prepare to get underway. Make sure everyone understands the battle plan. Then signal our friends. Let them know we're moving."

The ships of the Task Force had all been floating in deep space with minimal emissions and all stealth systems at full. This was what they'd been waiting for.

The ships were quickly brought to full battle readiness and on the signal from the flag they jumped into the system. Directly behind the advancing Cornerian fleet at missile range. Gunnery crews and targeting systems locked onto the PRC ships as the carriers began crash launching there complete strike groups.

The Cornerians were now trapped between the Commonwealth Fleet and the Terran Task Force. A signal went out from Republic in the lead as the carriers dropped behind the formation, and out of missile range. "Cornerian Forces, this is Rear Admiral Willtan of the United Terran Republic Navy, commanding task force 51. The UTR is unwilling to allow this war of agression against the Three Suns Commonwealth to continue. Power down your weapons and leave or we will be forced to intervene."

Onboard the Republic. "Ready the special weapon. Lock on to the superlaser platform and ready to fire on my order. Note that we are authorized for the use of weapons up to level alpha-two."

"Aye, aye, sir. Weapon ready and targetted. Ready to fire on your order." The UTRN capital ships continued to advance with weapons ready, if the Cornerians didn't comply soon they'd fire. Then it would be war.

-: Coventry, 300 miles south of the ruins of Coventry City :-

The bombs exploded, raining death on the dug-in militia troops. A vehicle-mounted MFR p-beam platform activated, swinging a blade of computer-controlled hot death across the Krytosian fighter squadrons. A half-dozen were ripped out of the sky, but it was not enough. Screams rang out, soldiers flopped, limbless. Medics dragged those they could to safety, and the men held beneath their active-camo netting and ECM generators.

Gunfire erupted- the incoming Krytos troops had made contact with the Brotherhood troops, at multiple locations.

Pulse-laser fire stabbed out, slicing a platoon of Brotherhood troops in half. The crack of Commonwealth flash-guns responded, followed by the dull whistleing of frag-cannon and the loud crump of mortars.

The line gave way in a flurry of explosions- Krytos power armor was breaking through.

The Terrans had assisted the Star Kingdom in their short, victorious war against the Black Alliance, and now it was time to act in good faith for the Terran rescue of the Three Suns Commonwealth. Elements from Fleet Division Nemesis were being sent out to cover the Terran supply lines back home (though the distance was short).

Meanwhile, the Star Kingdom's First Marine Expeditionary Force was on the move. While they were well-trained, they had not been with their new ships for very long, and not many of them had seen heavy combat -- though many had participated in raids and other actions against small pirate outposts, third-world planets and other "light" targets.

This MEF would be deploying without some of her support. The planetary assault monitors were still under construction or fitting out and there were only half the escorts as expected from a MEF's TO&E. Still, with cover from the Terran fleet, they should be fine.

(Forces as follows:

1 QI Jupiter-mod carrier, as fleet flag, air support and extra space
3 NNN Boso Peninsula in heavy lander dockship configuration (LSD)
4 NNN Suruga Bay in logistics configuration
2 CSD Hydra in landing ship configuration (LST)
5 CSD Hydra in assault carrier configuration (LHA)

The above allows me to drop two corp of Royal Marines, or six divisions with five regiments each. There are two spaceborne heavy assault regiments, six armored infantry regiments, eighteen mechanized infantry regiments and four armor regiments. In addition, they have their own organic air and artillery support.

Escorts consist of:
7 Escort Carriers (5 RN, 2 RNSG)
5 Destroyer Leaders
60 Destroyers)

The Kzin fleets had jumped in on the heels of the UTR task force, from their holding positions just outside TSC space. They arrived mere minutes later, but they found that the party was apparently already over. Without communicating with either the TSC or belligerent fleet, the Kzin took up formation around the UTR vessels.

The co-belligerents in this aggressive war against the TSC could not fail to take note. The Entente had taken a very definitive stand.

[Cornerian Flagship]

"What the fuck is wrong with them? Wax in their ears? We called for a truce and they're fucking it up already!"

The Cornerians waited for the TSC to get some one that matter on the line.

"And tell those damn cats they're not welcome here if there's to be a truce."
