I have an idea for a story; it's basically an adult (meaning there's gore and swearing) Tom and Jerry where the cat is the good guy, and the mice are destructive and huge pests like in real life.
The cat is a Steven Seagal like character who is dedicated to killing mice; his father was a great mouser on some farm who was killed when the mice swarmed over him and bit him to death. Ever since then, he's been even more dedicated to killing as many as possible.
He wrecks every home he's been in in his attempts to kill as many mice as possible; he's now in a pound, awaiting to be put to sleep. He gets the second chance rogue cops in movies sometimes get, when he is adopted by a family who has moved out in the coutry; their barn and house are positively infested with the little bastards.
So basically, I need cop and prison movie cliches that might apply to such a story.

You need the torture scene: The cat gets tied to a chair and questioned in front of a bright light, with the mice threatening to do him bodily harm if he doesn't comply with their every request.Bug-Eyed Earl wrote:So basically, I need cop and prison movie cliches that might apply to such a story.

Cop cliche: Veteran Cop paired with the Rookie. Sometimes they're two different races (Mel Gibson and Danny Glover, Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, Eddie Murphy and those 2 Guys From Beverly Hills Cops etc), almost invariably they start off hating each other but by the end they're the best of buddies. They also somehow take down an army of brutish thugs, armed with nothing more substantial than a sidearm. There's a love interest, who gets kidnapped and threatened with bodily harm at the end.
The chief cop is usually a tired old fucker who's sick to shit with the shenanigans the younger cops get up to. Or a book-thumping stickler for "proper police procedure," and who's orders are kind of barely tolerated by the maverick cop.
Oh yeah, the cop is always a maverick, while his partner is completely nervous he's going to be suspended for just being near the rule-breaker. Either that, or afraid he's going to get shot 4 days before retirement, and if he's just bought a boat - ALL BETS ARE OFF. If he somehow survives, the nervous guy becomes all mavericky (this is part of character "development"), while the maverick guy, who started off hating everyone and everything, has a special place in his heart for his partner.
Prison cliche: The warden is corrupt and an utter bastard (instead of being on the take and also being a real nice guy), one inmate (usually integral to the story) is completely innocent WHY WON'T YOU BELIEVE HE'S INNOCENT? The guy that escapes is always some shit-hot former-SpecOps guy who was wrongly imprisoned or some shit - maybe he saw the president or whoever fuck a hooker then kill her, and no-one will believe him when he says "there's an arsehole in office!" Or he's some rich criminal overlord, who somehow still has his money and gang operation relatively intact the second he walks out of prison etc.

The cop will fight the main villian at the end, with both losing their weapons and having to fight with random objects as improtu weapons. The Cop will have the villian at his mercy at the end but decide not to kill him, but just arrest him. He then turns his back (usually to the main love interest) and the villian pulls out a hidden one shot weapon and just as he is about to shoot the cop in the back, the cop/love interest/partner/limo driver turns around and shoots him.
The good cop/bad cop routine, but the bad cop isn't acting.

The computers always beep for every letter that they display, and the font is always huge. Any female character will be able to accomplish feats of strength equal to an athletic man, despite being built like an anorexic supermodel. The villain will have a European accent of some sort. The villain will always die in some spectacular way (i.e. falling off the top of a skyscraper, being blown up in a massive explosion, etc.) and will rarely leave a body behind. The cop may maintain a perpetual two-day groth of stubble, never appearing clean-shaven and never having said stubble grow out into a full beard.
