WinAMP 5.1: Randomizer

Post by Nathan F »

I've been using WinAMP 5.1 for a fairly good while, and am quite satisfied. It's got good features, but isn't the bloatware that was WinAMP 3. Only problem is it's randomizer. It doesn't seem random at all. Anyone know of any mods or scripts that fix this recurring problem in WinAMP?

Sorry to tack on a question on a related subject, but is it worth paying the extra for full Winamp 5? I'm thinking about expanding the mp3 collection from my cd's and the cd-to-mp3 function is tempting, is it worth it or are there better programs.

Hope you don't mind me tacking that one on.

Same problem. It's been prevalent in ALL the WinAMPs, especially when you start getting into playlists more than 20 or 30 songs long.

You can get free mp3 rippers all over the place.

That's actually a good question. However, I'm a cheap bastard and won't pay for something when I can get something almost as good for free. ;)

There are other good ripping programs, such as CDex and EAC. Both are completely free and don't stuff spyware on your box.

Hmm. I guess I haven't noticed it much. Then again, I run XMMS most of the time.

I've noticed that too. I've had it play the same MP3 three times in a row. Same one out of 1000+!

Hey, I wonder if XMMS has a Win32 port?

This is how I randomize songs: I open up my playlist, and randomly delete songs. :P

I use shuffle to randomize what I hear from the playlist, and it works mighty fine
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."
