Remind me of why I never eat at McDonald's, please.

Incidentally, have you ever eaten McDonald's after not having had it for a long time? I have, and it may just be me, but my system reacted to it with ANGER and I was miserable for a day. It's almost as if they were trying to take revenge on me for not eating their food enough.

I had not eaten McD's for a six month period, nary a french fry and then I had a quick burger and fries because I was in a rush to get lunch. ARGH. My stomach rumbled all day and the shit I took that night was as if my bowels had experienced explosive decompression. I try to avoid the stuff as much as possible.

Hilarious section of the article:
Spurlock, a tall New Yorker of usually cast-iron constitution, made himself the guinea pig in this dogged investigation into the effects of fast food on the body. He ate only at McDonald's for a month - three meals, every day - and took a camera crew along to record it. If a server offered to super-size his order, he was obliged to accept - and to ingest everything, gherkins and all.

Neither Spurlock, 33, nor the three doctors who agreed to monitor his health during the experiment were prepared for the degree of ruin it would wreak on his body. Within days, he was vomiting up his burgers and battling with headaches and depression. And his sex drive vanished.

When Spurlock had finished, his liver, overwhelmed by saturated fats, had virtually turned to pate. "The liver test was the most shocking thing," said Dr Daryl Isaacs, who joined the team to watch over him. "It became very, very abnormal."

Spurlock put on nearly 12kg over the period and his cholesterol level leapt from a respectable 165 to 230. He told the New York Post: "I got desperately ill. My face was splotchy and I had this huge gut, which I've never had in my life ... It was amazing - and really frightening." And his girlfriend, a vegan chef? "She was completely disgusted by me," he said.

Making the film over several months last year, Spurlock travelled through 20 states, interviewing everyone from fast-food junkies to the US Surgeon General and a lobbyist for the industry. McDonald's, for whom the film can only be a public relations catastrophe, ignored his repeated entreaties for comment.
Bwahahahahahaaaaa!!!!!

PS. The little furry guy pictured below refuses to eat McDonald's burgers.

I've brought this fact up before, but I think it bears repeating. When a dog steadfastly refuses to eat McDonald's burgers, what does that say about them? And why are you eating them?

Yeah, eating McDonald's when you're hungry and think it will fill your stomach is another bad idea. It sits in your stomach like a stone and is absolutely horrible to work on.

Given enough gradual exposure, people can become immune to snake venom too.

What's the point? McDonald's even if it tasted good is still bad for you. It doesn't take some film to know that.

No, but it is certainly interesting to see what horrific effects it has when taken steadily. Compare that to a steady diet of, say, Subway sandwiches. It may not be ideal, but you don't wind up with serious health problems in a month.

The only time I can stomach a McDonalds burger now days is if they are piping hot. Otherwise, Ive had the same effect. Stop eating there for a while and then go back. Your tummy is unhappy!

The only exception is breakfast. I get pancakes there usually once a week.

I can eat McDonald's breakfast -- occasionally I'll get a sausage biscuit, hashbrown and milk, but that's about it.

At least Subway has fresher veggies.

And this *will* keep me from eating at MikkieDee's.

I've eaten at McDonald's... exactly once.

My girlfriend's stepfather was quite a fast food junkie (He's gone, good riddance) and I was with them one time when he took everybody for lunch to Mickey Ds. Tried a plain burger, hated it (I've cooked burgers, from frozen to done, in the microwave and had them taste better).

Never been back since.

If I want a burger, either I make it, or it's from Tommy's or In-n-Out. Occasionally I go to another joint, but that's about it.

Well, I don't eat at McDonald's often at all. My mother is a dietician. :P She'd kill me.

And about the snake venom, what kind of snakes we talkin' here? I certainly wouldn't want to be exposed to even the smallest amount of neurotoxin, though a hematotoxin would be slightly more reasonable. :P

I've not eaten at McDonald's since I was about 5. I have food at Burger King perhaps once every few months. The only fast food I regularly eat is Arby's, which is actually good.

I like McDonald's breakfasts, but everything else just sucks.

I'd love to go on a steady diet of Subway, but that shit's just too fucking expensive. $6 for a foot-long sandwich. Sorry, but I can pay $4 and get two slices of pizza and a drink from Jake's.

I had eaten in Mac Donalds two times during my stay in New York and the reason was so I could brag back home that I have been to the premier American fast food joint.
