Hubble Telescope to be Abandoned

Eh, it's outlived it's design lifespan. Anyways, maybe this will clear up funds for the possible moon mission. Plus, if we established a base on the moon, then that would give us the opportunity to put an array of specialized telescopes on the moon, instead of a single jack-of-all-trades in LEO.

I think in the long term there should be two space agencies. One for astronomy related things like hubble, the other for spacecraft related things like NASA. That should prevent priority crisises like this.

No it wouldn't. The responsibility would still fall to the spacecraft agency to maintain Hubble, and the combination of factors that lead to this decision would still be there.

Would the gravity present on the moon have any effect on the optics or capabilities of any moon based scopes?

If not then the moon would provide a superb location for an observatory.

The moons gravity is too insignificant to bend light.
