Neighbor shot himself

Post by Sporkzen »

man.. last nite i was on my computer in my den and i heard a gunshot from a little ways away. I run outside and see my neighbor laying on the ground with a massive headwound.. He died a few hours later. Poor guy. I just dont understand what would make someone wanna do that..

To clarify he did shoot himself it was ruled a suicide..

Terrible. Are there any reasons why he might have done that, or does it appear totally random? In any event, you have my condolences.

SHooting himself is one of the worst ways commiting suicide.
The question is not only why, but also why so violent?

I've read somewhere that it takes more courage to live than to die. Any way this is a nasty situation to whitness.

It's quicker is the thought behind it. The fact it took him a few hours to die is certainly telling.

My condolences, I hope none of you have to see things like that.

Sorry for you but good riddance to him. The only victim in a suicide is other people, they are being fucking selfish and useless shits giving up like that. Good fucking riddance to the useless bastard.

Don't be so harsh. Life gets tough, and sometimes people see that as the only way out. I don't agree with suicide, I think people should always try to work things out, but to call him selfish and a useless bastard isn't right. You have no idea what was going on is his life, and he obviously thought it was the right thing to do.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Although there is part of me that agrees with that sentiment, sitting here 15 years after my oldest sister killed herself, still furious at her, I still very much miss her, would like to have her back, and would probably punch in the teeth of anyone whoe said "good fucking riddance" about her.

My sister had clincal depression for 17 years. In other words, she was mental pain ranging from annoying to agony every day for 17 years. She was probably suicidal most of those 6,205 days. On a certain level, it's a little amazing why it took her so long to do the deed.

You don't know why this man killed himself. Maybe he was mentally ill. Maybe he had just been diagnosed with a terminal disease. Maybe he was under the influence of some drug that affected his thinking. Maybe he was committing various crimes and was about to get caught. Maybe he was playing Russian roulette and lost.

So, basically, take your "good riddance" attitude and shove it where the sun don't shine, OK?

Sporkzen - I'm sorry you had to see that. Death in general is pretty ugly. Suicide has some extra features (even when it isn't a bloodly suicide) that just makes it worse.

Found out the whole story this mornin. makes it sadder. first off hes an 88 year old ww2 vet. He was going to have heart surgery in the next two weeks and was tired of having surgery. He had just started having chest pains and went outside with a gun.. And he was just threatening, but he had a few brandy's and his hands shook real bad. He didnt mean to pull the trigger.. so just sadness and not anger is the feeling..

Being a funeral director, I see suicides all the time. Most of these people experience levels of depression that we will never know.

Holy Shit man. Which neighbor? I would have figured it was those crazies two houses down from you.

Oh by the way, I'll tell you this next time I see you, but those crazy redneck ppl that have the mini golfcourse in the yard. Ya know, the one's across from my mom's. A friend of mine, came in to work the other day and told me they had a shooting there. I asked my mom, and she said she didn't hear a thing. Knew nothing about it. That doesn't suprise me though. There's like a few medical problems that occur over there.

Actually, it's my believe that every rational, intelligent person in this world is entitled to take their own life if they so wish. It is their life, not ours to dictate when and how they die.

That said, I don't really actively endorse sucide either. They should have to weight the reasons, and have a valid one IMO. Some people do give up too easily, and/or have stupid reasons for considering it.

It's a tricky question at times, and every situation is unique. If given enough information I agree with, I might have supported this man's desire for suicide, although I'd strongly disapprove of the method and location of his action.
