Honestly Stallone is not that bad.

He's not superb material, but say compared to Keanu, or Swayze or better yet Segal?!

And for the record Cobra wasn't too bad...par for cheap action flick.

I really disliked it when it came out. Now I find it amusing in the way I find a lot of 80s action movies amusing.

It was released at the same time as Arnold's Commando which was even more over the top but that's probably what made it so entertaining. :)
I don't think I was alive when it premiered. I first saw it when I was living in a trailer park at age 4. We only had 2 TV stations, and the local video outlet only stocked non-childrens shows. I got a lot of adult stuff as a kid.
