As you can see here, I need a new browser. Suggestions?

Mozilla? Netscape? Opera? Safari? there's quite a few out there.

1. Isn't Mozilla slower than Firebird?
2. Netscape? Uh, no.
3. Meh, used it several times.
4. I use Winblows.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling FB. That may fix the problem. HTH :)

I'd just try a reinstall of Firebird. It doesn't sound like you like any of the other options.

Then I'd go mozilla. Netscape is just mozilla with extra shit to slow it down so thats a pointless choice. IE, well we won't even get into that. I've never used Opera so I can't comment on it. I've got both Mozilla and Firebird on this comp, and I don't notice much of a didderence in speed between them, so unless you have a really slow comp I wouldn't worry about it.

No. Mozilla is just Firebird with everything in a single package. The irony of this is that Mozilla by itself is a smaller download than Firebird and Thunderbird combined.

You're using XP and it sounds like you are using FAT32, so use NTFS. Unless you have a very good reason not too.

start->run->"convert c: /fs:ntfs"

Reboot, let it run (shouldnt take too long), and its done.

Like any major computer system change, back up any important stuff (you do that already?). But then again, if you are running it on FAT32...

Not exactly tech savy. What exactly is the difference between them and is switching safe?

I'm a fan of Avant Browser myself. Same (in)compatabilities as IE, but safer and with more options.

NTFS is (generally speaking) faster, more reliable and has a bunch of extra features, like permissions and filesystem-level compression. Unless you're dual booting, there is no reason to use FAT32.

Its very easy to do, and you won't loose any data. Depending on how much data you have on your drive, it shouldn't take more than 5 - 10 minutes.

My HD is a pitiful total of 7.84 gigs and almost 3 gigs of that is free.

Ahh, an 8 gigger...prolly has a 5400RPM motor. I don't think it'll take all that long to convert. Just don't have anything you're working on open when you do this.

Your bookmarks is messed up?

You find the bookmarks in this folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Phoenix\Profiles\default\hdhev2og.slt\ under the name bookmarks.html

Copy that file.

Remove firebird and the phoenix folder.

Reinstall firebird and copy back the bokmarks.html file.

Note ALL settings and stuff from firebird will be lost. Make a backup of the phoenix folder if you vant to be safe.

Faram, it looks like he got some HD corruption, probably FAT32-related.

This is why I'm putting Windows 2000 on a FAT16 partition for my dual-boot systems. I then have a few FAT32 partitions for programs and such, since I need more than a single gigabyte for them.

FAT16? Ugh. That's even more inefficient than FAT32 and just as dangerous.

I was under the impression that FAT, being what NT used to run on before NTFS was really finished, was more stable than -32 at least in respect to Windows' drivers.

Well, with that in mind I'll just use FAT32, since it's a royal pain in the ass to fit Win2K on a one-gig partition cleanly. I suppose I can make a small NTFS partition just for the swapfile, since Linux doesn't need to access that.

Bookmarks are fine. I deleted them from Firebird, so I could reimport them in alphabetical order. Firebird decided not to import them.

The chkdsk happens almost everytime I turn on my computer.

I tried to change over to NTFS, but it wouldn't let me. I was wondering, do I need to reformat inorder to change over?

Hmm if you get checkdisk at every reboot then windows ain't shutting down in the right way.

When the chkdsk prompt appears do you let it finish or do you abort it?

What is the error msg when you attempt to convert?
