Can you guys recommend an online game for me?

Post by Superman »

Here is my problem: I hate fantasy. I hate D & D, I hate Everquest, I hate that entire genre. I have been playing Galaxies, but it sort of sucks. Can anyone help me with a good online game that is not fantasy oriented?

Battlefield 1942, mmmmmmm

With Desert Combat mod?
MMMMMMMM!!
(Beware besides the game itself the mod is 600 or so megs worth of downloading)

Call of Duty, Stop reading go buy it nowNOW GO NOW!

Aside from that if you mean MMORPG's you always have AO which I have to say is on its way out the door, the new FFXI online, which I'm messing around with now

Anarchy Online, Planetside, Earth and Beyond, Eve Online, Jumpgate, World War II Online, Neocron, City of Heroes, The Sims Online, Motorcity Online

None are Fantasy D&D-ish

For a good but cheap online FPS, get Tribes-2. It costs about $10 and its bloody nice. The graphics still compare with newer titles. The game engine is very well made, the maps are huge, and it has a built in driving engine. You can fly bombers, scout fliers, mortar tanks, and hover bikes. Every unit in the game has a jump pack and it makes combat real interesting. There are at least three armor classes which each have their advantage and disadvantage.

The game bloody rocks.

If he meant MMORPG he wouldn't have said D&D, as its not an MMORPG.

That said, Warcraft III. Its the only thing I play online.

Bullshit it is. Freelancer is a fucking FPS pretending to be a space sim.

Freelancer is the sequel to Starlancer, one of my favorite space sims. Like you I was thoroghly disappointed by the game. However I liked the multiplayer aspect of the game. As a multiplayer RPG Freelancer is a good game.

Americas Army is a great game. The only problem is it is about 600 megabytes of download.

If your not looking for a high-end graphics game, try the Half-Life mod Counter-Strike, its pretty much the only game I have been playing for 2 years now and I'm not bored of it yet. It also comes with Day of Defeat which is another Half-life mod that is rather fun if you like World War 2 based games.

You can get a week-long free trial for Planetside from several sites ( Fileplanet etc, look for links on the official site)

Well worth trying. But be warned, it's a fucking huge download.
