Sydney Opera House vandals charged

Post by DPDarkPrimus »

Hey, remember those fucktards who painted "NO WAR" on the Sydney Opera House? They just got sentenced.
TWO peace activists who painted No War on the Sydney Opera House were today sentenced to nine months periodic detention.

David Burgess, 33, and Will Saunders, 42, were convicted late last year of malicious damage after painting No War on the tallest sail of the Opera House on March 18, 2003.

NSW District Court Judge Anthony Blackmore today sentenced the pair to nine months weekend jail and ordered they jointly pay $111,000 compensation to the Sydney Opera House Trust.

Earlier in today's proceedings the pair handed over a cheque for $40,000 to the trust.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

Precisely. It's bad for tourism, you see. Seriously, I had completely forgotten about these fuckheads. Just goes to show how vain their 'peace protest' was, at least to me.

Oh, I'm not saying it's an unfair fee. Just seems like a lot, especially with jail time included.

I don't even recall this event...

And 9 months of weekend detention and that fine is perfectly justified.

Now if only they'd do the same to the fucking greenies down here in Tassie who are constantly treesitting or abseiling with banners off ferries etc.

They are only paying for the damages THEY caused! Furthermore, it is something called "weekend jail", so it's not like they are in prison all the time.

Cool, they get to be the weekend "entertainment" for the guys who don't get to leave during the week.

The best punishment would be to force them to clean every building where there are graffitis on.

Spend their weekends cleaning off graffiti in public restrooms.

That is more than I thought they would be fined.

This should be a lesson to any who might try the same.

The fine could also have included the fact that what they did was also dangerous, I mean they would have had to have absailed to do that ... possibly the Crown attached a 'stupidity' fine on that as well.

From what I've read they were ordered to pay the cleanup costs, hence the large sum of money involved.

$110000 may seem a bit too high but I think this should deter people from defacing public monuments in the future.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.
