I'm here!
Lets see the Hapes thought nothing of send in fleet of 66 Battle Dragons to Coruscant for a simple dimlomatic funtion. They have ships that hcan go toe to toe with Imperial ship on a 2 to one basis.
Ships
Battle Dragons
Nova Class Battle Cruiser
They have a massive amount of wealth and in their cluster control almost the same number of system as the Federation.
There only disadvantage it that their Turbolaser are 1/3 slower than Imperial ones but that will not be a problem against the United Federation of Planets.

The Hapans own the Feds, and depending on how spread apart the Hapes Consortium is, it could possible that the Feds can't even invade them to begin with. Like Solauren said, the problem with even these smaller SW vs. ST debates is that even weaker SW powers have technology at least in the same general level as the Empire. The only versus debates that could possibly be "fair" are ones which are extremely limited with specific conditions handicapping SW, or debates that do not involve tech.
The one thing I like about Dave Wolverton is that he wasn't as minimalist as all the other EU writers. Even a small regional power like the Hapans were capable of sending dozens of Star Destroyers to a single battle. I also recall Zsinj casually calling in 40 ISDs to reinforce his defenses around Dathomir at one point in the book.
Minor nitpick: The Hapans sent 63 Battle Dragons, each one representing a different Hapan world. These were also accompanied by numerous (I seem to recall dozens) of captured ISDs. The Queen's fleet that later defeated Zsinj's forces was also said to include 80 destroyers. The Hapans might not compare to the Empire or Republic, but they're quite militarized and seem to have captured a ridiculous number of Star Destroyers.Lets see the Hapes thought nothing of send in fleet of 66 Battle Dragons to Coruscant for a simple dimlomatic funtion.

The Hapans wouldn't do nearly as well, ship for ship, as the other groups in SW since their ships suffer from slow refire rates and apparently cannot engage large numbers of targets at once. However, they also maintain extraordinarily large numbers of starships/planet, have a large military, and are obviously quite powerful. They would be able to defeat the UFP without serious difficulty, but they would not do as well as a comparatively-sized portion of (say) the Corporate Sector that was given a similar number of ships.

Never heared the phrase "brainless as an redshirt" ?Isolder74 wrote:It would make them dumber if that is possible
I think the gun of command will have an positive effect on a redshirt. After being shot, the redshirt is suddenly able to follow commands !

True but they would then be following MY orders not their commanders. I can't have them walk of a cliff but having them play baseball with thei Phasers(pistols as balls rifles as bats) WOULD BE FUNNYHRogge wrote:Never heared the phrase "brainless as an redshirt" ?Isolder74 wrote:It would make them dumber if that is possible

Isolder was correct though with regards to hapan wealth. During the courtship of princess leia they threw jewels around like they were candy at a parade, these special jewels were so valuable just one could buy a Mon Cal Cruiser.
Also another point I made the LAST TIME WE DID THIS TOPIC 9coming up with the same answers as well it would seem)
Do the Hapans get Tenel Ka?
OT question about the Hapans:
they had captured ISDs, they needed upgraded TL tech, they are at a level of technology that seemed to be reasonably comparable to any other SW civilization. And they have the buying power of Bill Gates after his company makes a version of windows that doesn't crash every Fucking minute.
So why couldn't they:
A) Reverse Engineer the tech,
B)purchase the tech either from one of the powers or a third party with access to Capital Ships, SW has lots of corporations always eager to make an extra few bucks
C) "Recruit" some scientists seeing as how their own weren't making the cut
D) any combination of the above

I always assumed that the Hapan industries couldn't manufacture the required parts. It could be as simple as their industry just not being able to produce equipment with the precision, or heat resistant capabilities present due to a weakness in the labour force/ lack of stragetic resources/ etc etc etcDarth Fanboy wrote: they had captured ISDs, they needed upgraded TL tech, they are at a level of technology that seemed to be reasonably comparable to any other SW civilization. Isolationism had to have alot to do with it as well. From Han's comments they seemed to keep to themselves in most areas. It appears that they exported products but rairly imported items.PainRack wrote:I always assumed that the Hapan industries couldn't manufacture the required parts. What was to stop them simply stripping the lighter ships they got off the Empire? Also if you are highly Isolationist you will tend to only use products produced by your own industries. It is known that they can't produce them themselves so they have designed ways to compensate

I assume you are not talking to the guy who broke the chain.
As for the topic
THe Hapans have the resources the fleets and the capabilities to put some real hurt into any Federation Invasion. If they beam down planetside they will have to face troops armed with the Gun Of Command along other standard Star Wars gropund equiptment. We really don't know wht else the Hapans use in ground combat But we do know they do have a real army.
