They've done the best they could.
He was assessed to be psychologically stable, so he can't be put into a hospital for life.
He had no "base motives", so it wasn't murder.
So, it was manslaughter, and there's a limit, how long you can inprison someone for it.

No.
Especially when the "victim" wanted to be eaten.

I don't know about Germany, but theft, kidnapping, and such are considered base motives here. How much worse is it to want to steal someone's meat off his bones than to kill in the course of a burglary?

It is up to the judges, to decide wether it was a murder in any case, since the German law has some pretty high hurdles for "murder", like especial cruelty, avarice, cattiness,...
In that case, there were basically no "base motivations". It was manslaughter as the court ruled, or possibly killing on demand, but not murder...

well, usually the victims of burglaries don´t want to be victims. this "victim" wanted to be a victim. basicly i don´t give a damn about this guy. he wanted to get eaten and he got what he wanted. it´s not that different from suicide actually.

The problem here is that the victim wanted to be eaten.
They found each other in a cannibal chat or somesuch and then decided to meet in the house of the cannibal. So this is the cause why the sentence is so low.
