Oceans on Mars=Free Giant Shrimp

Post by Mayabird »

LOUISVILLE, KY, January 15, 2004 - Long John Silver's announced today that it will give America free Giant Shrimp if NASA's Mars Exploration Rover project finds conclusive evidence of an ocean on Mars by February 29, 2004. The out-of-this-world offer from the world's most popular seafood chain celebrates NASA's efforts to find traces of ocean water - and possibly, evidence of life - on Mars.

Steve Davis, President of Long John Silver's, Inc., and A&W Restaurants, Inc. sent a letter to NASA Administrator Sean O'Keefe, expressing support for NASA's efforts to find conclusive evidence of an ocean on Mars. In addition, Davis announced plans to provide free Giant Shrimp to America if conclusive evidence of an ocean is found.
Is it corny? Yes. But there's a chance of free food and maybe getting your average Joe interested in Mars exploration and that's what counts.

It's not corny, it's more a fishy taste.

When I read the title, I thought this thread was about raising giant shrimp in the oceans of Mars once we settled it.

Now, that would be cool if they found evidence of oceans on Mars. Not only will we get free shrimp, but there might be more evidence for Life on Mars.

I find it absoutely hilarious how cheap we are, not in terms of how much money we want to spend, but how easy it is to buy us. I'll show up to fucking anything if it means free food.

Of course, I'm also a person who goes to Costco every Saturday and Sunday around 1:00 and just eats samples for lunch. So maybe I'm a bad example.

That ain't that bad. The Bible Club at my school, called First Priority, gives away free pizza.

Anyway, that's quite an offer they have. I'm sure the drive-through lines will be jammed as people as much of the free giant shrimp during that day and time as possible.

Well, they just found proof of hematite on Mars, so that's a good chunk of evidence for oceans right there. 8)

But hasn't almost the entire surface of Mars been observed already? They know its not going to happen. Unless Mars has got one of those weird things going on where one side always faces Earth, but I don't think that's the case. Besides, we have orbital and surface probes. They would have found evidence of a body of water large enough to be classified as an ocean by now. Especially since oceans tend to take up millions of square miles.

Wouldn't it be ironic if they would an ocean on Mars and it was full of Poplers? Puts a whole new spin on the free giant shrimp thing.

If Dr. Zoidberg was on that planet, we wouldn't find any aquatic life, except for him.
