Kathy Cox at it again

OK, so the evolution thing didn't work out. Disappointed with the failure of her attempt to make the credibility of scientific education in Georgia a joke, Kathy Cox has now set her eyes on history, deciding that kids don't need to study the Civil War in high school for some reason.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

Well they could always skip the actual war part and just focus on all the stuff leading up to it and then jump into reconstruction.

It's too bad because the war would probably be more entertaining for the students to learn about but I guess this way they can lessen the "underdog effect". No little guy vs the big guy. No heroic stories about the Confederate soldiers or generals. Just the reasons for the war and the aftermath.

I suppose it would be best to mention certain elements about the war in the context of reconstuction etc....

I can't say that I like the idea of skipping any part of American history but not spending a lot of time going over the specific battles and the like might be a good idea in your normal overview type class.

Something wicked this way comes.

Oddly enough, my roommate's best friend is a niece of Cox, and one of my friends in band had her as his tenth grade history teacher. Cox's niece calls her a moron, and her old student said that he hated her as a teacher then and hates her as a superintendant now.

Slightly off topic, but this reminds me of what my mom and her side of my family were telling me about how many Japanese history classes are set up. They're timed so that they are just getting into the twentieth century when the school term ends. That way, they never have to explain about Japan becoming militaristic and losing World War II.

SDNW4 Nation: The Refuge And, on Nova Terra, Al-Stan the Totally and Completely Honest and Legitimate Weapons Dealer and Used Starship Salesman slept on a bed made of money, with a blaster under his pillow and his sombrero pulled over his face. This is to say, he slept very well indeed.
