Kerry and the South

Post by Col. Crackpot »

First 'Southern' primares are now complete in South Carolina and Oklahoma. John Kerry has finished far behind the leader in both. What insight do these give us regarding upcoming southern primaries? If Edwards patches together a chain of victories in southern states and drags out the primary process, how much will this hurt the eventual nominee? Also, what would that say about Kerry's electability in the South in November?

Kerry didn't really lose by that much in OK. He lost by three percentage points, or about 9,000 votes.

Clark was able to get 29.9%, Edawrds was in the middle with 29.5%, and Kerry finished third with 26.8% of the vote.

That's actually pretty significant.

The primary will be a total mess, but its hard to say whether this will strengthen or weaken the actual presidential race. Kerry is a decent canidate for some states, but he's going to face a tough race without the south. We may even see Clark win the primary as a dark horse.

 *screams in horror*
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Before, obviously. Need dinner table conversation. :)
