Janet's boob 'bigger than 9/11'

Washington - The now infamous "wardrobe malfunction" that exposed singer Janet Jackson's breast on live television during the Super Bowl halftime has generated more internet traffic than the September 11 terror attacks, a survey showed on Wednesday.

"Janet Jackson exposing her breast during the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday night has proved to be the most-searched event in the history of the Internet," Terra Lycos said in a survey of top Internet searches.

By Wednesday afternoon, the story on News24 had already received in excess of 60 000 page impressions, while the gallery showing the "wardrobe malfunction" had received over 200 000 page impressions.

"On Monday, Janet Jackson and the halftime show received 60 times as many searches as the Paris Hilton sex tape and 80 times as many searches as Britney Spears," said survey chief Aaron Schatz of the Internet portal Terra Lycos.

Schatz noted that prior to this week, the most-searched event in the history of "The Lycos 50" survey over a one-day period was the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks

"Jackson's halftime exposure also far surpasses the other top stories we've tracked on The Lycos 50. Over the course of one day, it received three times as many searches as the 2000 Election.

"It also received four times as many searches as the Iraq War on the day that Al-Jazeera broadcast video of American prisoners of war, and received five times as many searches as the day the Space Shuttle Columbia exploded," said Schatz.

God dammit, people in this country just don't have their priorities straight. It's time for the Supreme Court to rule the American people unfit to govern.

As for a comparison to Septeber 11th, that's a faulty. Most people looked for information on that in legitimate news outlets or at least a reasonable facsimile there of. This people wanting to see a tit and going to the #1 source for porn, the internet.

Methinks the big difference here is that 9/11 coverage was on every channel 24 hours a day for the next week.

Janet's boob wasn't as easy to find on tv.

Especially those who can't figure out that the survey is based on Lycos (story with no registration) ; a search engine that doesn't even crack the top 10, or that the searches did not all originate in the US.
