Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.

No one can claim to be suprised, here. I mean, we knew going in that the moment that Saddam lost the ability to oppress them the people of Iraq were going to want to make their country an Islamic run country with Sharia as law. What? Did you all think that they wanted a nice, happy secular democracy?

The neo-cons believed that once Iraq was freed, they would all want to adopt American society. No, seriously. It sounds ridiculous but if you read neo-con articles written before the war, that's what they were saying.

Well everybody wants to be American, the USA as we all know is the pinnacle of modern society to which all nations aspire (which is when anybody complains about the US's actions it can easily be identified as jealously).Darth Wong wrote:The neo-cons believed that once Iraq was freed, they would all want to adopt American society. You have to keep in mind that a neo-con's idea of American society is religious fundamentalism; in that respect they were inadvertinatly correct.Darth Wong wrote:The neo-cons believed that once Iraq was freed, they would all want to adopt American society. These laws clearly refute the notion that we went in there for humanitarian reasons~ Now all the neocons can do is fall back on their bullshit about Iraq giving them strategic access or whatnot. It's all the same illogical bullshit once you put it under a magnifying glass.
Lots of them don't give a shit about about religion and merely wank to the idea of having power bases in the middle east.BlkbrryTheGreat wrote:You have to keep in mind that a neo-con's idea of American society is religious fundamentalism; in that respect they were inadvertinatly correct.Darth Wong wrote:The neo-cons believed that once Iraq was freed, they would all want to adopt American society. "Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."
It has always been an American flaw that we assume that people struggling to be free want to adopt American style democracy and culture. I am reminded of the line from Full Metal Jacket: "Inside of every gook is an American trying to get out."
Wherever you go, there you are.

Hamel's right, neocons aren't religious fundamentalists. Many of their detractors on the right are, however.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.
You say "many", but the only such person that comes to my mind is good old PatJoe wrote:Hamel's right, neocons aren't religious fundamentalists. Many of their detractors on the right are, however.

"Son, all I've ever asked of my marines is that they obey my orders as they would the word of God. We are here to help the Vietnamese, because inside every gook there is an American trying to get out. It's a hardball world, son. We've gotta keep our heads until this peace craze blows over."
