I'm not a man. I just portrayed one for 15 years.

Depends on the genre
For 'management' style hybrids, the Civilizations series. (I like Call to Power best, haven't really sat down with Civ 3 yet)
Pure military:
Toss up between military madness (TG16), the newest version of Risk I have, and a shareware game I once had called Global Thermo nuclear war (grin)
Action:
a Star Trek game I had for the commodore
Favourite Real Time Strag game:
Dungeon Keeper series (evil grin). Fun game, if a little restrainted...
A turned based version would be enjoyable:
The various 'Age of Empires' engine games (Age of Empires, Age of Mythlogy, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds)

X-Com: Enemy Unknown and Terror from the Deep. TFTD still has me hiding. Disciples 2 and its expansions, Master of Orion 2 and the more recent Reach For the Stars.

Final Fantasy Tactics, of course.
Also, creech; Dragon Force was a great, addictive strategy game, and it alone made the Saturn worth owning, but it wasn't really true turn-based strategy.

BoTM / JL / MM / HAB / VRWC / Horseman
I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

I realize that but it was kind of a mixture of turn base and realtime. Either way it still kicked assJoe wrote:Final Fantasy Tactics, of course.

Turn DirectX off or download the newest version of the major editing program for it. But be prepared to kick the speed down a good dealCrazy_Vasey wrote:UFO: Enemy Unknown. If only it worked properly on my newly upgraded PC.

I'd recommend you get it. It includes the best aspects of the Call to Power games, and drops the annoying factors that hurt them, with the best of the real Civilization line.Solauren wrote:Depends on the genre

The original Panzer General and Master of Orion 2
I had the pleasure of not having my good computer avaliable to me over the entire course of winter break...leaving me to cry at the keyboard of a crappy 100 Mhz Pentium. It was terrible
Until I remembered I had Panzer General on it Maybe it was because of the situation I was in, but I had just as much fun playing this old game as I do now playing BF1942, KOTOR, and SWG. My only complaint is the difficulty. The game is SO DAMN HARD! After I kept failing to take France quickly enough (that's how hard it is lol) I took of the Fog of War and put the settings to very easy. Even then it was tough...but a week later i was marching upon Washington So much strategy and fun in such an old game...gotta love it

As the most played game I'll say Heroes 3 and 3.5 (WoG).
But as my favorites: Fallout 1&2&Tactics and Might&Magic 6&7&8&maybe 9
They are not trully turn based, but I played them only in this mode. I'm not the Diablo-style fan so a turn based mode suits me better.
And, of course there are other I enjoyed, like Worms Armagg and Panzer Gen 2
