CNN calls Washington for Kerry. Stick a fork in Dean.

Post by Master of Ossus »

Stick a fork in Dean. He's done. Kerry has just carried Washington, where Dean's support had formerly been the strongest, for Kerry, and Kerry has a commanding lead in Michigan, where Dean had spent much of his time on the campaign trail. It looks pretty official: Kerry's going to be the Democratic nominee.

Bah, if I were an American I'd be under the "Anyone but Bush" ticket. I wouldn't care if Al Sharpton won.

Hey, it was Dean's race to lose. He lost it. You can be upset about it, but I can't see how he has anyone to blame but himself.

This is a rather ignorant position, wouldn't you say?

From the simple standpoint of someone who lives on the other side of a big ocean, Sharpton may not be the worse choice. While he may screw us up domestically, he probably won't go and purposefully piss off all our closest allies like Bush did.

I just don't approve of Bush- a Democratic candidate would have to be significantly worse than Bush for me to either abstain from voting or vote for another four years of Bush, and I don't see that out of any of the Democratic presidential candidates. In this case, I'd rather go with the devil I *don't* know than the devil I know.

In case you've forgotten, the sitting President was a Washington outsider. So was the last one. And Reagan. And Carter. I know you're disappointed because your man isn't getting nominated, but "insider politics" did not sink Howard Dean--his own big mouth did. He talked mainstream Democratic voters into believing he couldn't successfully challenge George W. Bush, and so they went and voted for the guy who, IMO, actually has and has always had the best chance of anyone in the Democratic party right now to win.

Interestingly enough, Vympel, Bush's political strategists are aiding the Sharpton campaign, simply to suck away votes from the other players.

If he had his way? Increase federal spending by at least a full trillion.

Check it for yourself.

Bush might be a fundie moron, but Sharpton's a racist shakedown artist.

Vymp,

That's actually a really interesting proposition. I'd love to see what someone like an Al Sharpton or a Howard Dean would do in office.

Mind you, I don't like any of the democrats running, but if nothing else, I'd like to see what these so called outside of mainstream candidates would do if they got a hold of this country.

It may not be good for America, but it sure as hell will be entertaining if you look at it from the outside.

Eh, doesn't really matter. He'd lose with their support. Now he'll lose without their support.

That's why we have the legislative branch to exercise checks and balances.
