Citizen Kane in this day

Who would be the media monger who could control public opinion, make wars, and control the flow of information with their vast ego.

Ted Turner (AOL/Time Warner/CNN)

Rupert Murdoch (Fox/Times)

others?

Reverend Moon
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

I don't know. Citizen Kane was based directly off William Randolph Hearst, who was far worse than any media mogul we have today, what with his attempts to crush anything that opposed him and him being an outspoken supporter for the Nazi party. He invented sensationalist reporting and yellow journalism, and was a heavy hand in the cause of the Spanish-American War, likely to increase newspaper sales, with his "You furnish the pictures and I'll furnish the war" bit. You think that FOXNews is bad for that stuff, but they all bow before the colossal evil media power of the real Citizen Kane.

There isn't one, and there won't be one, not in the age of the Internet.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

I wouldn't be too sure, there's a lot of people that have FOX as their only source of news.
You can always get a different opinion, but a lot of people don't care. They watch "their" news show and take it as gospel.

Isn't there some Canadian media magnate (Asher?) who supposedly ordered his papers and stations to publish only positive stories and editorials about Israel?

He supposedly owns 60% of the newspapers in Canada.

Anyone know if this is true?
"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."- General Sir Charles Napier

Well if we are talking about localized powers then Silvio Berlusconi certainly tops the list.

controls 6 out of 7 italian tv-channels

controls about 80% of the italian newspaper market

is prime-minister of Italy.

Proprtionaly he wields even greater power than William Randolph Hearst.

Oh and he has a LZ127-sized ego too.
