Anything is possible given the correct circumstances, but I personally believe that things will remain as they have been, and that our government knows what it's doing.
I believe in a sign of Zeta.

To put it simply, I have faith in my government, but also personally feel that addtional measures could be taken to better ensure our social and economic stability.
I believe in a sign of Zeta.

I would prefer to avoid such Orwellian prose, as in my experiance, such a message has never been said.

Actually, if you aren't suspected of doing anything wrong, you have nothing to fear. But technically, you're right; you aren't from the Middle East, you aren't involved in any major protest groups...you, at least, are probably safe. And I suppose that's all that matters, isn't it?Spanky The Dolphin wrote:I do nothing wrong, therefore I have nothing to fear.

Problems occur when what is "Wrong" becomes rapidly re-defined. I recently heard about a case in which two Muslim men are being prosecuted for "conspiring to render material aid" to a terrorist organization. What's one of the government's biggest bits of evidence?I do nothing wrong, therefore I have nothing to fear.
They spent a lot of time "training" at a paintball field.

Again, perhaps, as many things are possible.

Actually, it was rather unrelated to your little scenerio. Basically that I'd never hear the end of it if I had actually mentioned all of my views and ideas at once.

Among the "agree or disagree" statements on the Political Compass was:McC wrote:The response of my Libertarian friend:GrandMasterTerwynn wrote:A somewhat better political quiz is the Political Compass.
"I'm terribly sorry, but that entire quiz was BS. I'm only halfway through that quiz of yours, but the questions are strongly biased towards the left. They state a leftist opinion as fact, then ask you if you belive it's true of not."
"The freer the market, the freer the people."
I won't call that a leftist opinion.
If anything is wrong with the Political Compass, it's the lack of a "no opinion" option as well as the fact that it doesn't cover one's opinion on gun ownership.
BTW - it's evident that I've become significantly more elitistic recently... the World's Smallest Political Quiz test pegged me as a libertarian... while the Political Compass gave me:
Economic Left/Right: 1.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.62

For one, I'm pro corporate and support business and industrial interests. I believe that social assistance and welfare programmes should be eliminated, and that labour unions have long outlived their usefulness, and only get in the way of the economic interests of both the corporation and the average worker. I am a believer in the class divisions of society, feeling that they are integral to maintaining order and stability, and additionally give people something to strive for. I am pro taxation, but do not believe that the wealthy should be punished by paying most of the nation's taxes, nor do I hold any hostility toward those that have more money than I. I believe that the primary purpose of criminal incarceration is punishment rather than rehabilitation, and support the use of the death penalty in regards to serious crimes. I do not believe that the government is becoming more and more like a Big Brother or that we are transitioning into a system like 1984's English Socialism with our increasing security methods and measures, as I feel that the only ones that have anything to fear are paranoid for a reason. I do not support socialist or anarchistic ideals that are damaging to society, etc...
That's good for a start.
