Sieg Zeon!
SIEG ZEON!!
Anyway... Yes, while Gundam did help to introduce me to the romanticism of Island IIIs and the High Frontier, I've always been a supporter of space colony construction over planetary colonisation. I feel that it is a better use of time, resources, and money, not to mention that I am utterly and totally against the idea of terraforming, on both logical and ethical levels.
I believe in a sign of Zeta.

We've actually been terraforming this whole time. Humans don't adapt to new environments like other animals do. Our cities and suburbs are totally alien compared to the native terrain. To say it's arrogance to adapt an environment to suit us is ignoring almost all of our civilization's history. While I agree that we shouldn't introduce Earth life to alien worlds that already have flora and fauna, I can't see anything arrogant about making some hellhole's atmosphere breathable.
It wasn't intended to be a nitpick. I think it's a valid point. Humans can't adapt new environments. We have to change them to suit us, especially if we're going to spread out into the rest fo the galaxy. I don't necessarily disagree with you, I'm just curious as to why you think it's wrong to terraform Mars. Even to the fullest extent, making it essentially a Terra Prime.
Well, in regards to productivity, I also see it as a massive waste of time. Especially when you consider that it might not even work. In the time spent waiting for Mars to become green, we would have already established an enourmous population within the Earth Sphere.
I believe in a sign of Zeta.
