Mohamed ElBaradei, the director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, called on the United States and the other declared nuclear powers to relinquish their nuclear weapons as part of a global effort to make it impossible for nuclear weapons to fall into the hands of terrorists
In the piece, ElBaradei suggested that the United States is itself part of the problem of nuclear proliferation and urged Washington and the five declared nuclear powers to fulfill their obligations under the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty to abandon their nuclear weapons programs.
"A fundamental part of the nonproliferation bargain is the commitment of the five nuclear states recognized under the nonproliferation treaty -- Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States -- to move toward disarmament," ElBaradei wrote.
What the hell were they smoking with that one? I mean seriously, what nation on Earth is going to hand their nukes over to the UN? And they sure as hell don't understand the concept of detterance.
And they sure as hell don't realize that the US takes a wee bit more care of our nukes than say Kazakstan?
I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.
HAHAHA, the only thing stopping a madman like Kim Jung Il from nuking the crap out of us is sure death on a large nuclear pyre. El-Baradei should stick to weapons inspection and leave politics to the masters...

Its not what they're smoking that really bugs me, just the money we give them that they use to roll up the good stuff they're smoking.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Let me see if I have this right: a Pakistani scientist sells weapons designs to whoever will meet his price, gets pardoned after he's caught, and the head of the IAEA responds by calling on "the big 5" to give up their nukes?

He's the big boss of the International Atomic Energy Commission. Whatever bits of stupid fall out of his mouth, the whole UN is responsible for. Or at least his whole agency.
