Because there's nothing to be done about it. Let's say that the USA invaded and conquered Mexico. How would that solve any of the problems that Mexico causes? More like it would exacerbate them.
Assuming that invasion would be the only action at our disposal to deal with the problems with Mexico. There have to be other ways.

The Wall of America... I like the sound of that. Guard posts and an electrified chain-link fence.

But what if someone gets killed? Do we arrest our people for defending against a foreign power?

That is one shitty border for us to fortify (damn you, Gadsden!), except for the Texas stretch. It moves across without any real regard to terrain, from the Rio Grande to the Pacific. It would cost a fortune to build, maintain, and staff, and there would still be a somewhat reduced flow of Mexicans choosing to take the sea route. It wouldn't be worth the cash... and anyway, the illegals contribute to our economy by taking shitty jobs at virtually no pay. That's the American way.

This is just a most recent occasion. There's been countless times this has happened. Not to mention, about a year back, they opened fire on the Border Patrol while on our side of the border.

God forbid that someone should promote a change in drug policy that would hamstring these drug cartels.

NO. We are winning the war on drugs. Stay the course. The drugs are committing suicide in their tanks. I triple guarantee you, there are no drugs in America.

I don't think the US government can politically allow Americans to kill foreign troops.

Well Constitutionally they have the right to form a militia, no?

Certainly, a "well-regulated militia" (whatever the fuck that means, damn those 18th century prose poets). This guy isn't forming one, though, he's just setting up a posse to shoot it out with the thugs crossing the border. Ordinarily I'd say that it's stupid for them to shoot it out with military units, but we're talking about the Mexican army.

The worst case would be if the people they're picking a fight with have been pseudo-mercenaries for a long time and have some "combat" experience against rival cartels and their Mexican army units.

But the ammo production will stimulate the manufacturing industry. And people will enjoy speeding around on the web of nice razor straight roads we'll be building to support the boarder batteries of national defence.

The American public would never, ever stand for that.
I think that that was his point, and the world is lucky because of it.

I wonder how the ordinary Mexican's would react to a real invasion? Presumably they would be up in arms over it, and that could be really bad as there are a lot of Mexican's living in the US. The US may have problems similar to what Isreal is having, meaning constant attacks by ordinary people wou are already living within their country.

I like the idea of a good wall, and then make it known that anyone illegally crossing it will be shot.

I say bravo for these guys. Heck, the local authorities haven't been doing much of anything, and the illegals are known for stealing and vandalizing property.
